Clint Eastwood: The Republican Party Was "Dumb" To Invite Me to Speak at RNC

"If somebody's dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they're going to have to take what they get," the 82-year-old star told Extra earlier this week about his now-infamous August 30 Republican National Convention appearance, during which he addressed an invisible Barack Obama "seated" next to him."

The Democrats who were watching thought I was going senile. And the Republicans knew I was!"

Eastwood also seized the opportunity to clarify his political views -- he's not a Republican or a Democrat, but a Libertarian.

I was afraid Clint lost his marbles when he was having a discussion with an empty chair. Now I just think he was having some fun.....

Is he right? Was the Republican Party dumb to invite him to speak?

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

It was dumb but also the highlight of the whole convention since Trump's video was cut.

I actually liked it when he spoke. Made me laugh quite a bit.

I actually don't really care who spoke at the GOP convention. However it seems to me that they picked completely the wrong time for his speech...it was like somebody actually tried to take the attention off of Romney.

In the end, it's their convention, their business.

Re: Clint Eastwood: The Republican Party Was "Dumb" To Invite Me to Speak at RNC

There were many things in the Rep Convention that should have been thought provoking.

Eastwood simply addressed the failures of the current administration.

It's about time we stopped looking at the shiny objects and started talking about the serious issues.

    Is the debt too high?

    Should we stay in Afghanistan?

Is half the country really crippled and sick enough to need support?

Do we really need an active military big enough to fight a ground war in Chine or a global war at sea with conventional weapons?

It it time to turn an Arab country into a glass top just to get the attention of the rest of them?

Should spending continue to rise every year or could we cut back spending to the Utopian days of Clinton?

There are real, actual problems in this country that have to do with how the country is being run. The priorities are out of whack and the bill is coming due. Soon the USA will have a worse credit rating than an Occupier.

Does anyone up there know that we're in trouble?
I am not of the mind that a man is either of science or of religion. At his best and his worst, man exists in the misty glimmering where the falling angel meets the rising ape. That he chooses a direction from that point defines him as human.

The Republican party is dumb, period. Like, over the last 8 years they've been shooting for full retard. Mission accomplished.
I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.

Why post a poll that is just a declaration that you're a political partisan hack trying and failing to be clever on an old topic?

Clint Eastwood saying "when someone hasn't got the job done for 4 years its time to let him go" was a definite plus.

They kicked Democrats asses in the last election season and locally here the Democrats could not even put up a candidate for most positions, where before Obama the offices were half held by Democrats and half by Republicans. This is the first time in over 100 years Democrats could not even find someone to run, let alone win the election.
