Can a presidential candidate vote for themselves?

Well this is a fact but what do you think/know?

Easy enough to google I won't give the answer.

Ummm... of course. The candidate, as a US citizen, as long as he is registered, can vote for whomever he chooses... even himself.

They show up to the booths to vote for the guy they campaigned against for months with cameras right there.

Re: Can a presidential candidate vote for themselves?

Not gonna lie. If I were running for office I'd vote for myself. If I think I'm legitimately the best candidate, why the hell would I vote for the other guy? A show of "sportsmanship"? I think not.

I think it is pretty much common knowledge that a candidate can vote for themselves.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Re: Can a presidential candidate vote for themselves?

One could argue that if the candidate was an elected federal official that would be barred from voting for themselves since the Constitution does NOT allow that group of people to be electors. That would be if voting is defined as being elector which is the official vote for President.

    Article II
    Section 1
    Paragraph 2

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers
