Why do you think Romney refuses to release his tax returns (still)

Why do you think Romney chose to with hold his tax returns for all but the last year?

He knows the information will be used as it is and as it'll inevitably be distorted to create a pseudo argument regarding Romney's character or patriotism and likely sees it as a worthless endeavor. He's likely seen polling that NOT releasing the tax returns is less damaging than the spin cycle that will result from releasing them and has opted to take a page from the Obama play book and largely ignore the requests from the hacks who keep demanding them. He's met the legal requirements (as had Obama re: birth certificate) and he's under no obligation to go any further.

Quite frankly, I'm continually disturbed by the idiots on both sides who keep pretending this nonsense matters. If Romney had broken the law in the last 10-12 years in reference to his taxes he'd have likely been caught by now. If Obama weren't a natural born citizen it'd have been caught before he became the party nominee.

Focusing on minute, largely pointless nonsense issues instead of focusing on record and ability is about 50% of the problem with politics in this country. Just stop, already.

That's of course a possibility, but you and your "likers" seem to have concluded such. Could also be that he pays a far lower percentage rate then average Americans that go out to work every day. Who knows, unless we see it.

After all the public demand you'd think Romney would show his tax returns for the past 10 years however low they are.

Why would he do it now? He's not running for public office. And even if he were, there's nothing except "campaign diplomacy" requiring him to show his federal tax returns anyway.

I don't think highly of him as a presidential candidate, but I've never been a fan of the idea that candidates must show their tax returns to the public. That's said, if I were to guess I'd say the reason he's not showing them now is because he doesn't have to. Now, if he threw his hat back into the ring and he was the only candidate not doing it, I'd say he likely had something to hide. But I'd still respect his decision not to show them.

I think it's because it's a lose lose situation no matter what if he does...

Who drug this turd up and......why?

Well it might have been relevant in 2012, lol, not so much now. Thread necromancy FTW. :2razz:

Many members in this thread are no longer with us, for all the reasons.

As I said yesterday, I don't mind seeing Specklebang's avatar though, since he passed away last year.
Though this thread HAD passed away for 38 months .
