    civil war

So, what are the chances of a civil war or mass civil uprising that would require military force to put down if Obama gets another green light?

Lone nutcases, the same as happened in his first term of office. The nutcases will either be A) insane or B) from the left in which case they will be A) accused of being tied to the tea party and B) ignored - again, the same as happened in his first term of office.

Generally, however, as America polarizes and we see the rise of self-reinforcing communities in which the assumption of superiority and right to rule goes unquestioned, the possibility of political violence increases.

    Re: civil war

What are the chances? About the same as when Bush got 4 more years. About the same as when Clinton got 4 more. About the same as when Reagan got 4 more.

    The question is silly.

It could easily be flipped into:

What are the chances a violent civil uprising will take place if Romney is elected?

The odds are completely equal regardless of who is elected.

It could happen if it doesn't require any physcial exertion more than bending over to pick up the tv remote.

Americans have no sense of scale. They see civil wars happening in other countries and think that 4 years from a democratically elected leader is enough to let them join the cool revolutionaries.

There is not that much difference between republican and democrat...
The sane are still running things and the insane are still in the fringes, realizing that they have little support but they still make a lot of noise !
And guess what our wonderful media picks up on ?

You are looking at it backwards. Other nations have no sense of drama. America needs to destroy the global economy (and much of the globe) over some comparatively minor differences just because we can.

Can I change my vote to rootabega ?

That option makes about as much sense as the original question.
