I understand that. I shouldn't have added it in but you still got my point.

I agree, but only with the condition we stop providing all sorts of subsidized health care to those who abuse opioids, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, sleep aids and various prescriptions and synthetics. Drugs should be legal, but so should the practice of denying addicts bailout money after their addictions ruin their lives. Abuse at your own risk.

Oh without a doubt. There is no funding to alcoholics and nicotine addicts unless they seek the help to get over them and it should be the same for any drug

So applying an "out of sight, out of mind" attitude to drug policy?

I'm not implying they are. What you're saying is that just because tobacco and alcohol are legal, we should legalize literally every other drug, even the really dangerous ones?

    People do them anyway.

Are you gonna do heroin and meth because they're legal? Probably not. Just because they're legal doesn't mean that people are gonna do them more

I will point out that hemp isn't technically illegal, but a federal law gives the Drug Enforcement Agency(DEA) the power to grant hemp farming permits, which is never does.

For all of the talk of marijuana being grown in hemp fields, I recently learned(and I should have thought of it earlier) that cross pollination between hemp and marijuana effectively destroys both crops, because it reduces the genetics of the plants by half. This pointed out during a press conference I watched, which featured Senator Rand Paul, the Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner, and a couple of State Senators. Therefore, the marijuana argument is invalid.

Why is hemp illegal then? Powerful business interests that don't like competition. It has tons of great uses, including ethanol, clothing, plastics, and food, among others.

Is there any legitimate reason why hemp shouldn't be legal?

None. Another example of big biz misusing the power of government through undue influence.

Fully incorrect. Many people shy away from these substances because they fear consequences. Are you implying that making drugs illegal does nothing to deter their use?
