Absolutely for. If you can't show you're eligible to vote, you shouldn't be able to vote.

I'm against having to vote on voter ID on three different threads.

I've been resistant to National ID all my life but I'm coming to change my mind. It would certainly solve all the Voter ID and immigration fraud questions. It's not like they can't track us anyway so why fight it any longer.

You already have a national ID, your social security number. What's the big deal?

It's a Social Security card, not valid as ID. ID has description and photos. The SS card is just a number, anybody could show you my SS card and you wouldn't have a clue it wasn't me.

Any right to vote that there is, is reserved for citizens. It is neither right nor proper for a non-citizen to vote in any given election. As such I strongly believe in a voter needing to prove that they are eligible to vote. It's not like the requirements of proof are hard to come by. One has to register to begin with so proof begins there. I certainly don't want someone to to be using my name to vote.

There are additional means to prove who you are without providing an ID, however, when the IDs are cheap and relatively easy to get, I do not think it is undue harm to the citizenry. I do not agree with the mentality that selling IDs in of itself is a violation of our rights as citizens.

I live in a small town they point to my name when I sign in to vote anyways. And they already have all of my information when I registered.

Is pretty hard in a place like this for there to be voter/election fraud, but I can easily see in large cities how it could happen. But then it has happened in small towns before:More criminal charges in Sunland Park election fraud and public corruption - El Paso Times

I live near a relatively small town, and the place to go to vote is just about 1/4 mile up the road from me, and serves just a small precinct of the county. Last time I voted, just during the 15 or so minutes I was in the building, there were two different elderly ladies who went to vote, but were told they had already voted. Neither of these women appeared to have any cognitive deficits. I strongly suspect that they had ballots mailed to them, for early voting purposes, and someone else kindly "voted for them", then sent the ballots in. I have no proof that there was fraud, but I find it a little more than coincidental that two elderly ladies, in my small precinct, who just happened to go vote at the same time I was there, incidentally forgot that they had already voted.

Re: Are you for or against vote ID to vote?

I agree entirely. I don't mind providing a voter ID to vote. But just for clarification purposes- a voter ID is the same as a DMV issued identification card? I feel the need to clarify this because I'd rather not assume. However if it's not the same, that's still fine in my book as well as long as it is provided for free to eligible voters.
