What difference does it make what your imaginary friends think? This is the real world.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

Re: How Many Times Should America Rebuild New Orleans?

People don't suggest abandoning a city just because it's a potential target for disaster.

You don't hear anyone saying Miami should be bull-dozed into the ground.

    Why?

Miami is not BELOW SEA LEVEL.

New Orleans is sinking isn't it?

You can't defeat nature. Water wins every time. The eastern Chinese profits knew this.

    Why don't modern Americans?

    1) Below sea level
    2) On the coast of Gulf Of Mexico
    3) In "hurricane alley"
    4) surrounded by huge, major bodies of water
    5) requires man-made earthen levies and pumps to keep water from flooding it on arid, dry, perfect weather days

As a taoist I also realize that the ancient chinese "prophets" had more respect, compassion and understanding for their fellow human beings and human nature than you yourself are showing.

Do you realize the cost of abandoning New Orleans? What about Grand Isle and the rest of Plaquemines Parish.Or any place else that has frequent disasters?
Miami may not be sinking but it does get hit quite frequently by hurricanes.

Are you willing to help pay for the cost?
Where should all those people go?

Too bad he never said anything about taking responsibility for yourself, if indeed Jesus ever existed at all.

And those are real human people living in that part of the real world.People who have friends, family and other people who love them.

Or who think people ought to accept the consequences of choices they make. If you keep putting your house in the path of a hurricane and it keeps getting destroyed, whose fault is that?

This is not what this discussion is about.

Do you think people should delight others getting those consequences of the choices they make?
Are you so perfect that you yourself never made bad choices?

Is New Orleans being destroyed as we of this moment?
If you enjoy watching that hurricane destroy that person's house, what kind of human being does that make you?

I think you are confusing self-induced human suffering with non-voluntary human suffering. Call me a sociopath all you want, but I just don't have sympathy for people who suffer as a result of their own stupidity. Blame my mother if you want, as a kid, if we did something really stupid, her response to it was "if your looking for sympathy, it's in the dictionary between **** and syphilis".
