Umm ok.... but I thought there is no mix economy.

there is left or there is right.

    there is communism or capitalism.

I am very sure and it is based upon Keynesian economics. Moreover, the idea is that putting food stamps into the hands of recipients causes them to spend in the market place and therefore stimulates the economy.

No economy in the world is completely one or the other... We have never had truely free markets, here or anywhere else in the world, ever...

Capitalism is usually tempered by a "Social Safety Net" that keeps the poor from being absolutely destitute... and it is a good thing... but as Ben Franklin said,

And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.”
Provision must always be made for the sick and infirm, for the orphan, and for those unable to help themselves... but to provide a reasonably comfortable poverty, is the greatest crime one man can perpetrate on another, it robs them of their will to be better.

The Democrat Party of the 1800 and 1900s wasn't the same Democrat Party as it is today. Once the was Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, the Southern Democrats of the time jumped ship and went Republican.
