Judging by it's actions (meaning what they DO, not what they SAY), do you believe the actions of the US government (the spending, the war-mongering, trampling the constitution, passing deceptive bills that erode checks and balances, increasing instances of non-accountability, trillions funneled to black projects, etc.) do you believe their actions show that they are for our greater good or are they to the contrary, benefitting only those at the top of the pyramid?

The US government is the most benevolent force in the world, and would never do anything to hurt anyone ever.

I disagree with your assertion in the options given that they are for the top tier. They are obviously for themselves, they will sell anyone out to futher their own "careers" as politicians. You are far more likely to find and capture a Unicorn than to find an actuall non-selfish honest politician that is not more absorbed with their own wealth and power than with "public" good. One of the things that led to Romney's presumed nomination is the fact that although he did hold a political office previously, Politics has not been his life long career. Can Obama say that or has he been pretty much a Political hack most of his life and never held many or for long, an honest job.

The government is an inanimate thing, therefore it cannot be either "friend" or "foe." However, politicians in Congress and/or the Senate can be harmful to our way of life. Which category does each particular individual fall into? Do they really mean well for the average American, or do they care only for easing things for the rich/corporations/funders of lobbyists?

it's impossible to accurately make the sweeping judgement called for in the OP without first breaking down the incredibly complex organization into its component parts. i vote rutabaga.

They are absolutely for themselves, but they take orders from the top tier beneficiaries (puppeteers) and they consider themselves top tier as well. Ron Paul was that unicorn.

The latter.

That is kind of why I said "at the higher levels", but I'm just talking about the end product - their actions. What do their actions tell us about what we are getting with the current government? I want to see that we are all in agreement about it then we can narrow it down.

I just heard a statistic the other day. Historically, past governments where the rights of the people in societies lower rungs/poor were ignored, or where they were not allowed to vote/influence their governments, those governments ended in revolution. That is a scary statistic, since the gap of rich to poor has been growing in America. What can we do to build up the middle class? What is working in some countries and not ours? Have we become so polarized politically, that we cannot figure out what will work and just do it?

Drastically reduce our dependence on outsourced goods, create jobs, and put people in them.

Not always, the US hasn't ended in Revolution, yet. We quit suppressing the rights of the lower rungs/poor 40+ years ago. We don't ingnore the either, we have a whole, pro-socialist political party whose current incarnation is build around the "rights" of them. That party is so concerned about those rights that they have, over the past 40 years, suppressed and screwed over the rights of everyone else. It was not the "lower rung" that revolted in 1776 and eventually kicked the British out of the US. Revolutions from ignoring the rights of the lower rungs only occur when that lower rung is large enough to actually revolt. Thanks to liberals, that is a growing concern now, the growth of that "rung" not it revolting, and it will remain revolting. In the US today, the threat of Revolution is much higher from other groups than the "lower rung", you know, the segments of society that liberals keep stealing from to provide for the "lower rung" and who's rights liberals keep trampling on. Quit reading Marx and Marxian sources and take a look at reality instead. It is not the "lower rung" of our society who continue to purchase assault style weapons and ammo at record or near record pace while espousing anti-government sentiments and it is not the "lower rung" that now has more weapons and ammuntion than the all the worlds militaries combined. If you want to continue with your watching the Proloteriate and waiting for the rise as Marx predicted, don't blame me when you get blindsided by a revolution from a different direction because you kept voting for Politicians who kept stealing more and more and screwing over everyone else to give to the Proloteriate.

No surprises in this poll. Everbody seems to be voting for the lesser of evils. That speaks volumes. "None of the above" needs be in every ballot box Nationally and statewide. If you don't start cleaning out the crap, nothing happens.

Refusing to vote is the equivalent of "none of the above", though voting third party is a more effective form of voters protest. I've done it before, and I'm going to do it again in November.

The government responds to pressure .... So far the pressure has mainly come from big money corporations, who are only interested in profit and pushing forward Capitalist ideology ... So .... the government responds accordingly.

I disagree. Not voting doesn't compare to an actual vote that says "none of the above." For example Romney gets 19%, Obama gets 19% and "none of the above" gets 62%. End of discussion.

I have to disagree, not voting is voting for your least desirable candidate, since the lack of you voting reduces the number of votes that candidate must have to win. Voting for a good candidate may be desirable, but if you don't at least vote for the greater of two evils, you are passively supporting the greater of two evils.

Not really. By not voting, a person is passively voting for who is already going to get the most votes in their district.

I likely won't vote, either. Voting for Ron Paul is also the equivalent of not voting.

As far as the US government is concerned: corrupt to its core. Knock it down and rebuild. Repeat in another 200 years.

I would say off the top of my head that it sort of looks like Faction is contending with Faction.

Just vote 3rd party. We're being lied to about the numbers so who knows. If there's more of us than we've been led to believe and we all vote 3rd party... it's a better chance than no vote at all.

I think it demonstrates exactly what the founders warned about. Left unchecked, all government trends towards tyranny.

I'll be voting, just not for the Obamney machine.

I am still voting the lesser of two evils, Obama must go. Also, don't know of any 3rd party candidates that I see as any more sensible or workable than the Romney option. Sadly, I don't see any positive options available only less negative ones.

Who then? 10 characters

Gary Johnson. I like the majority of his political stances. Until the Democrats and Republicans can get their **** straight, and stop treating elections for our nation's leadership as some kind of game, I can't in good conscience vote for either.
