    Romney's Birth Certificate Comment

The media is trying to make hay out of this. Let's make sure we are all on the same page.

THAT IS AWESOME... yes, it was just a joke, but all of the best jokes have SOME truth to them... if only that there won't be the same kind of distraction or question about his citizenship as there was with some for obama.

His joke gives a nod of legitimacy to the Birthers' idiocy. Its a low blow, but not that big of a deal since this election is nothing but lies and distortions. A bit of rotten food is a big deal if you're eating at a gourmet restaurant, but not so much when you're starving to death in a 3rd world hell hole.

It was neither. It was a joke, but it was certainly not hilarious. Romney is just not good at humor or coming off as a down home kinda guy and never looks good when he tries. The joke was did not and was not intended to give any kind of credence to birther beliefs and was entirely harmless if poorly delivered.

It was a joke, for crying out loud. Personally I don't think it was funny but whoever accused Mitt Romney of being able to bring down the house? I would have been a little Peeved if I thought he thought it was true or was pandering to those who did, but its obvious he thinks the whole birther crowd is nuts and was possibly making fun of them knowing he can make a laughing stock of them and they'll still vote for him anyway as if the survival of the republic depended on it.

What can I say, some people don't have a sense of humor

I don't think that it is fair to say that he was giving plausibility to the "birthers". It seemed like an affront on Obama; it's difficult to put to words, but perhaps suggesting that he, Romney, is more "American" or a more "legitimate" candidate than Obama. That's what I picked up anyway, when I heard it. But regardless of intent, it's been blown far out of proportion. I guess this is as close as the media gets to "calling out" a candidate for what he said.
