The United States seems much more resistant to electing women into high positions when compared to Europe and other western countries. So I'm interested to see people's views and how they would vote. Would you vote for a woman who you held all of your views politically and promised to make changes you agreed with? Would you be more like or less likely to vote for your candidate because she's a woman?

My views: I would be very excited to see a woman who held my views run for president or even vice president. I would be excited to see someone whose views match my own running for office, but her being a woman would be the cherry on top. I would not go so far as to vote for any average woman just because she's a woman, because I feel the first female president is going to be held to higher standards and have her every move scrutinized by her critics. A sub par female president would only set us back.

I would be happy to vote for a woman who had the qualities that I consider important. She would need to have a toughness and resolve about her that is relatively rare, so my standards would be pretty tough to meet.

I would not vote for a woman for ANY political office, for ANY reason. Period.

I'm sure I'll regret asking this, but why not Tigger? Because you feel they wouldn't do a good job, or because it would disrupt gender roles?

Both. I do not believe that women were ever intended to be involved in the political process at any level. Not as voters, poll workesr, campaign staff members, or candidates.

You seriously don't think women should have the right to vote?

I vote for candidates based on their qualifications, their ideas and their sense of pragmatism. Not gender.

If a black lesbian atheist woman was the one I agreed with the most, she'd get my vote.

If a hetero white, evangelical man was the one I agreed with the most, he'd get my vote.

It's that simple. Ideas, not physical attributes.

That is correct, kerussll. I understand it is neither a popular nor a common viewpoint, but it is what I believe.

This.

I sure won't do like America did in 2008 by collectively proving they're not racist and apologetically electing an underqualified black man for president.

I'd vote for a woman, but she better have a damn good reason to get my vote besides "she's a woman". America done screwed itself already with that line of thought.

Well that's the understatement of the year. Do you plan on trying to change things to match your views or do you realize that would be hopeless?

Just for ****s and giggles, what if the woman running for office held your views? Say she was running for President and vowed to overturn the 19th Amendment and it would actually happen.

Would you vote for a woman if she was going to strike down women's access to the political process?

gender doesn't play a role in my voting decisions. i vote for the candidate whose views most closely resemble my own.

I'm not sure why he doesn't move to Iran, a country that comes much closer to espousing his ideals and beliefs. Over there, women are 4th class citizens, below the dog and the camel.

I'd vote for a woman. The problem with the poll is it doesn't really give a good option. I vote for the best qualified candidate, entirely without regard for gender, race or sexual orientation. I'll vote for the person best qualified to do the job, full stop. I wouldn't be happier to vote for a qualified woman than I would for an equally-qualified man, any more than I'd be happier to vote for a black man over a white man or an asian man. It's entirely irrelevant.

I couldn't select any of the poll options.

I don't consider gender to be something that impacts my selection of a candidate.

Hell no!A woman's place is in the kitchen, making her man a sandwich, getting him a beer, pregnant and bare feet taking care of the house, kids and her man. Besides that why would a woman want to run for president when she can get a man to take care of her.(sarcasm)

I would vote for a woman if she shared my views.I would never vote for a candidate simply because of their gender, race,or what ever else.

I can't vote. The poll questions aren't accurate for allot of people...

I would vote for anyone who has solid policies and experience I identify with. I don't give a rats ass what sex they are.

If the candidates are all going to be as bad as they have been for the last several elections...hell yes...and I hope she is a large breasted hot as hell stripper. Redhead would be nice.

What difference does gender make? Offer some candidates. I would have voted for Hillary over McCain. I would vote for Rice in a heartbeat. I was a big fan of Jean Kirkpatrick running back in 88 and the 90s.
