Obviously you didn't understand my post, my point was NO SCOPE, especially for the inexperienced.

Beyond it. By far the best battle tank ever created and will hold that rank until the M1A3.

The weapon is not really what matters. It is all about appearance. If you carry yourself as someone not to be messed with, people will leave you along or ask to be with you. If you act paranoid and scared, then people are gonna eat you alive even if you're walking around with an M249.

Remember the concerned person stocks up on ammunition,
the Prepared person has reloading supplies.
Ammunition would be the new money! Be nice to be able to make your own.

    shall we call you CHUCK

I don't think his rifle was a 30-30 given the rounds it held

more likely one of those pistol cartridge jobs. they make a lever action with that loop still

I have 5 MECs-one for each American Skeet gauge-and an extra 12 one for making specialty loads. the main 12 is hydraulic. I have twin Dillon 1050 commercial presses-one for 9mm one for 45 and a pair of 550s-one set up for 40 and the other 38 but I can load 556, 308, 45 LC on the 550s

I would have to go with something that can take a beating as it may be awhile. Simple to maintain and good for defense or hunting. I also want something light weight that will not waist to much ammo.

In the end I went with the lever 3030. It's light with a good rate of fire easily controlled and good for general defense or hunting.
I've been a hunter all my life ... and considering a weapon would be used for both hunting and self defense .. I would still go with My trusty 12ga double barrel. I realize the ammo is heavy compared to most rifle but I would put up with that .. I feel confident that I can get within range of most big game to effectively harvest one (at least in my area) and for use as self defense ... well 12ga double barrel with 00 buckshot is lethal and down right scary when someone is looking down the business end of one .
