He probably said it to goad Romney into releasing them and revealing any details that could potentially damage his campaign.

Where's the option: there is no evidence whatsoever that he went 10 years wihtout paying his taxes. That's one I'd mark.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

Nobody knows. I can only pull a completely ignorant out-of-my-butt guess like so many others are doing... and my guess is that he filed tax returns, but paid almost no taxes, which is why he is hiding the damned things. He has never once revealed his tax returns while running for any office... yet he has always castigated his opponents if they didn't, and when his opponent did reveal her tax returns, he castigated her for not revealing her husband's tax returns while continuing to refuse to reveal his own at the same damned time.

I doubt he did anything illegal. He's just disingenuous and smarmy.

    How about:
"Harry Reid made that crap up for political purposes, and his guess is probably pretty close to the truth."
    Are you coming to bed?
    I can't. This is important.

    Next question.
Notice he didn't say, 'I have paid income taxes every year.'

Tell me about it, I'm one of those fence sitters. This is all basically entertainment for me, since I gave up tv long ago.

I think Romney is hoping that will happen here as well. When someone jumps up and down and says Romney didn`t pay taxes for 10 years, then Romney produces forms and proves he did that guy will have a hard time getting people to take other points too seriously.
Well that the theory at least doesn`t mean it will work. If he releases too soon before the election he wont get as good an impact, plus there will be less people making outlandish claims.
Either way, making such an outlandish accusation without any shred of evidence is nothing but slander. If I was Romney, I'd take him out back and beat his ass... which is why I could never be president.

Who the hell ever specifically says they paid their income taxes?

It wouldn't be surprising to me if he didn't pay taxes for 10 years.

    Reid is so dense.

By making heresay accusations he is giving Romney an out/distraction from all the tax talk by demanding Reid 'put up or shut up'.

I assume Reid has squat (he is such a dumbass, after all) - so he will have to shut up.

This will make the dems look foolish and puts Romney in a better light - without doing anything.

Unless Reid has rock solid evidence against Romney, I would imagine Obama is privately none to pleased with him right now.
