Do Democrats hate wealth?

The difference is that all the names you mentioned are OK with paying a higher tax rate to help the deficit.

Maybe ordinary income is not where they make their money. They're OK with OTHER people paying a higher tax rate.

October 12, 2010 — In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi released September 28, 47 House Democrats have urged that reduced capital gains and dividend tax rates for the wealthy, currently due to expire at the end of this year, be extended.

"I'm all for reducing the capital gains [tax] to the extent that the entrepreneurial spirit is there to invest and to hold the assets so that it doesn't contribute to the volatility of markets." - Nancy Pelosi

Mrs. Pelosi did not sign that 2010 letter which was written by Adler from N.J.

Pelosi has proposed letting the current 15 percent tax rate for capital gains revert to its pre-2001 level of 20 percent for the wealthy. Dividends, now taxed at 15 percent, would go back to being taxed at normal income rates, which would be as high as 39.6 percent for upper income taxpayers.

Typical hypocrit, demonizing a woman and a mother who raised a family and then went into public service and rose to 3rd in line for the Presidency. And you guys talk about envy.

I think Guy pwnd his debate with Prometh.

But they won't pay the higher rate because they will have their personal loopholes all carved out, like Pelosi and her husband are exempted from minimum wage and OSHA requirements for their fishing interests in Samoa. For liberals like Pelosi, Reid and the Obama gang from Chicago, higher tax rates are merely a means of crippling the competition.

Soros does not use his fortune to undermine the US govt. like the Koch Bros. Yet you are one of their puppets. Voting against your own interests is nothing to be proud of.

Did you read that on the internet somewhere? :lamo

This brings up another upper-class Liberal scam. Big businesses like regulations that they can afford to comply with while their smaller competitors can't.

Whatever the case, you guys like to celebrate the handful of super-rich, super-powerful people who say "let's raise income taxes on the rich." Well no kidding, they will retire with more money they have time to figure out how to spend regardless of income taxes.

Uh, how would that make me a hypocrite?

Only when someone else has earned it, not when they have the wealth.
No...they celebrate when others have wealth. Other democrats. Who else is going to pay for those 40k a plate fundraisers? The wealthiest politicians in congress are democrats. Many of the wealthiest entertainers are democrats.

It has ever been the case. Democrats do this weak ass Jedi Mind trick and their minions just gobble it up. Democrats target the poor, republicans target the wealthy and upper middle income, and the country gets continually screwed because both parties are only after party power. Obama ran on a platform of 'hope and change'. 4 years later...it changed...its worse. So...how do you run on that? You cant. You have to inspire people to vote for you somehow so you make comments like the "you didnt built that" comment. Hey...poor people...YOU are really the ones that allowed them to be successful so reelect me and I will make it right. I will go after their wealth for you. After all...its only 'fair'.

And how can you blame the politicians? Hell...we keep putting them there. Bush and the GOP dug us a huge financial hole. Obama dug it deeper. Does anyone think the next administration is going to suddenly do it differently, regardless of who gets elected?

There is much truth in what you say, but I think there may be hope. I remember a time back in the fifties and sixties when there were responsible Democrats, but that period gradually went away after the 1968 Chicago riots at their convention. McGovern started a campaign to change the party rules, the rabid left gradually took over and sidelined the responsible members of the party, substituting identity politics and class warfare for substantive policy discussions. Now it's our turn to help the TEA party to take back the Republican mantle.

There seems to be a cycle at work here where a new direction comes on the scene and works well for thirty years or so, then flounders for another thirty years, and is eventually replaced. At the beginning of the nineteenth century Jefferson and the Democrats of his time had the right ideas and did well as the country expanded to the west, but they weren't up to handling the question of slavery. So Lincoln and the Republicans came on the scene, held the country together and built the railroads that helped spread industrialization. Industrialization brought its own problems and, in spite of the efforts of reformers like Teddy Roosevelt, the party got stale and after sixty years it was time for another change. Enter FDR and the New Deal, which basically accomplished all of its original aims by 1965 and has been floundering ever since. Imo we are in the midst of another transition period, and the outcome will determine whether America continues to be the shining city on the hill or whether we fade into irrelevance by following the path of socialism.

How many threads and messages have been posted by Democrats explaining how much they hate rich people? Jealousy seems the core campaign tactic of the Democrats.

I heard a Democrat challenger of the Dem ocratic incumbent for this area (state offtce) whose radio ad for the Democratic primary boasted that he "isn't rich. Isn't it time we elect a REAL Democrat?"The near total campaign theme of Obama and national democrats is that wealthy people are evil. It is the campaign against Romney. It is overall the constrant drum beating otherwise that the wealthy are evil and the Democrats are ongoing to punish them. Do Democrats hate the wealthy?

Democrats do not hate wealth.Basically they are using the rich is bad mantra to exploit the green with envy retards who are too damn stupid to realize that almost all politicians on the federal level are wealthy regardless if they are democrat or republican.

I think Democrats hate wealthy Republicans.

No, I hate stupidity, which is why I'm not voting for Romney.

...oh I do hate cheaters and thieves as well. But no I don't hate success and wealth.

They don’t hate the wealthy. They want you to hate the wealthy. They want you to hate the republicans because they want to help the wealthy. They don’t want you to know that the republicans don’t just want to help the wealth but they want to help everyone.

How is Mitt Romney any more stupid than Barack Obama?

Lets start with believe tax cuts to the rich is the best way to stimulate the economy.

Making comments like "I won't be watching the DNC"

Making 10k bets in primary debates on stage

Think he earns his money by fireing people

Raising twice as much money from special interest groups while botching the RNC

Not releasing his tax returns, hiding them just leads to people assuming the worst. He's cheating on his taxes.

There's so many more indicators that I honestly don't care to remember.
