I'd probably be more excited about the fact that I'd then have a legitimate excuse to push away the droves of women who attack me!

Or maybe it's a case of

"Dance, little jean, this day is for you,
Two people you love, stood up and said "i do"
Dance little jean, the prayer that you had
    Was answered today
    Your mama's marrying your dad"

"Culture" is not an immutable, unchangeable fact of your identity like gender or race are. You absolutely have the choice to change cultures. This is fundamentally different than restricting people's marriage options because of their race or gender. Once you're an adult, you have control over what cultural values you choose to identify with...but you do not control your race or gender (in most cases).

Hell, if people actually were more willing to move to different cultures, all the liberals would have already taken boats to where what they want actually exists instead of trying to force it upon others.
I moved from rural Ohio to Washington DC, partially for that reason. If you're an adult, you choose where you live and with whom you associate.

Obviously, you have no idea as to what the benefits and purposes of marriage are. The purpose of marriage is NOT procreation. Never has been. It IS about the rearing of children. Procreation has never been a requirement for marriage either. The entire "procreation" argument is completely invalid. Further, marriage has several benefits that has causes government to support it. Marriage has been shown to improve the health of both individuals. It has been shown to assist in creating a stable society, improve and stabilize wealth, and is the most effective method of rearing children. All of these things have been found to be completely consistent in both heterosexual AND homosexual unions. THESE are the reasons that government supports marriage and what things marriage tends to positively produce. Procreation is not relevant.

And why exactly does the vaguely eugenics-sounding idea of "evolutionary combinations that may improve mankind" for our distant descendants take priority over the rights of people who are alive right now?

It's difficult to evaluate your position when your first assertions are so very wrong. The purpose of marriage was indeed about procreation, that only changed very recently historically speaking.

That has never been the purpose of marriage. It was often an OUTCOME.

If marriage is about procreation, should octogenarians be allowed to marry?

The purpose of of marriage is the transfer of property rights. And it was never afforded to the lower classes through out history.
