Yes, I understand that it's still months away. Yes, I understand that no one can really know. This is just a poll getting an idea of what you're thinking/feeling right now. If the election was tomorrow, who would you place your bets on for winning?

I was leaning more toward an Obama reelection a couple months ago. Now I'm leaning in the other direction.

I think Romney will win if he articulates a credible plan to stimulate economic growth, because the country wants to go in a different direction. But not otherwise.

Obama appears to be in good shape so far and has decent-sized leads in most of the battleground states. If the election were held today, Obama would win. He seems to be on track for a fairly solid win, unless there is another economic calamity stemming from Europe's monetary crisis (which is not unthinkable).

Romney is such a lousy candidate that real conservatives will refuse to vote for him and most people will find him totally untrustworthy due to his massive flip flopping. So Obama will win.

As it stands, many of the right's solid constituents see Obama as a threat for various reasons. He's not hated by the world, he's not a neo-imperialist, the guy has a pretty cool and collected demeanour about him. He's Clinton Part II and very little seems to stick to him. That alone may be enough for many of your brethren to come out and vote against him.

With the exception of Jon Huntsman, Romney was the only sane and intelligent candidate compared to the rest of the geniuses that the GOP put up in the primaries. Face it, whatever "real conservative" you had in mind wasn't going to have a prayer in the primaries, much less the general election.

I am an pessimist; I have lost faith in the "intelligent American" (NOT an oxymoron !)
I believe that an election can be bought...with enough money and cleverness.
Remember Germany and the NAZI propaganda machine of the previous century ?
History can and does repeat itself.
We will be in for another four years of misery.
Hope I am wrong about everything .....

The real heart of the question is whether or not the GOP base will put up with Romney, a moderately liberal Governor of an East Coast state, in order to get a Kenyan-born Marxist out of the WH.

Romney has severe image problems, and frankly, wasn't wanted by the Repubs back in the primary. The expectations that Repubs will toe the line in this anti-politician climate is a long shot.

I believe that Romney can be easily manipulated....by the tea-bagging conservatives....So they may as well vote for him....What has the GOP leader, (Rush L) to say about this ??

Romney bought this election (the primaries)....he must have out spent Santorum tenfold ...and more !

Do we need reform in this area ?

It depends on many things, but either way it will be close. I prefer neither of them win. We'd actually probably do better without a president.. and congress.

Those on the right saying Romney isn't 'right' enough are in some sort of dream land if they think this country is EVER going to elect another bible-thumping moron. It's just not going to happen.

Exactly my thoughts. Whatever extreme conservatives think of their "ideal candidate", a practical politicians has to be a moderate, one that appeals to the majority of voters.

I am the opposite of Josie, I was leaning towards Romney a few months ago, but his image has been battered relentlessly and it looks like Obama will win, though it will be close (like most elections)

So what type of governmetn do you want?

So what type of governmetn do you want?

One that follows the Constitution, remembers they are there for the country and it's citizens, and doesn't look at politics as a career.

No one can really know, the election is still months away. Sorry, I put too much smartass in my coffee this morning.

I'm with you. I used to think that, because NOTHING sticks to Obama (thanks MSM propaganda tools), he was pretty much a shoe-in.

However: No President has been re-elected with a record as abysmal as Obama's. Ever. Even with a fawning, adoring media, most people know that things suck and they aren't getting much better. People have also forgotten (or they never heard in the first place) about Obama's numerous attacks on everyone to the right of Teddy Kennedy. Christians, whites, gun owners, veterans, pretty much the heart of America has been under attack by this President. People may have forgotten that fact, but Romney and the SuperPACS will remind them. Early and often.

We need a President who can get us back to business, and everyone with a properly functioning brain understands that Obama isn't the guy for the job. At. All. Romney has "a sterling record at Bain Capital", according to Bill Clinton, and Bain's job was to fix broken companies. His skill and experience will be invaluable in the coming years, whereas Obama, who never ran so much as a lemonade stand, STILL doesn't understand how business works.

I'm predicting a Romney win, and I'm hoping and praying for a Romney win. Four years of Obama Unleashed would be devastating to our Nation, and most thinking people understand that fact. We'll just have to see how many welfare leeches ObamaNation can get to the polls, I don't underestimate their ability to promise lazy people more of other people's money.

No President has been re-elected with a record as abysmal as Obama's.

.... Bush?

1. 2 failed wars.
2. high oil prices.
3. housing crisis.
4. 4,000 dead Americans in Iraq/Afghanistan.
5. 3,000 dead American civilians on the largest attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor
6. Weak candidates for SCOTUS.
7. Plame affair.
8. Katrina/Rita
9. Patriot Act

The list of things goes on...

I mean yeah... you can claim all you want about Obama's "abysmal" record, but there have been worse presidents in recent memory.

.... Bush?

All the people I know that are still unemployed or very under employed had jobs back then.

I mean yeah... you can claim all you want about Obama's "abysmal" record, but there have been worse presidents in recent memory.

Only if you are a partisan hack.

Unless Romney can figure out how to run a campaign, he has little chance.

Obama will take the lead once the debates come around....

Not that I want to re-argue Bush's record with any Liberal (you guys have gone way, WAY off the deep end on this subject), but you should probably know some facts:

1. Saddam: Dead. Taliban: Neutralized. Not really seeing the failure.
2. Gas price when Obama took office: $1.79. Now: 3.59. More than double. Obama increased gas prices more than Carter did, ffs.
3. The housing crisis was Bush's fault? Really? How do arrive at that “logic”?
4. A repeat of #1, and you're forgetting that the wars were approved by the vast majority of Democrats as well as the American People.
5. That's Bush's fault too, eh? Seven (7) months into his Presidency? Does Clinton share any of the blame for dismantling our intelligence services during his term? One last question, is Bush STILL to blame for Obama's failures, almost four years later? I thought so.
6. Hahahahahahaha. Yeah, Kagan and the Sotomayor are legal rock stars. SCOTUS insiders say that The Wise Latina can barely write. Yay, affirmative action.
7. Plame affair? Really? Obama's White House is leaking classified information like a sieve, according to Diane Fienstein. So.
8. Yes, we all know Bush created Katrina (and Rita) with his super-secret hurricane gun that Dick Cheney made in his laboratory. We also know that welfare recipients have no responsibility or obligation to get off the effing couch and get the hell out of the way when a natural disaster is on the way.
9. The Patriot Act came up for renewal, didn't it? How did that turn out? Obama vetoed it because it was so wrong and heinous and eeevil, didn't he? Didn't he?

All this is irrelevant, though, because Bush isn't on the ballot. Neither are his policies. Obama had four full years (half of them with a majority in both houses and a near monopoloy on the propaganda machine that USED to be the news). How's he doing?

Obama had his chance, and failed miserably. We all saw it, although some choose not to.

The debates have not yet started. I suspect once they do, Obama's lead will only increase. Lets face it, Romney isn't exactly the best orator, and Obama in my opinion is far more intelligent.

Ive gone back and forth on this a couple of times...at first I thought any republican would win handily...then it went towards obama...then it was going heavily for romney....now its reversed again its going Obamas way....It can still change but I think Obama has a bit of momentum....everything HINGES on the debates now...as I see it anyway...no matter who romney picks as vp...if obama dominates the debates he wins...and the same goes for romney...just my opinion

If you take a look back, all of Obama's gaff's have been when he was off the teleprompter. There are no teleprompter's during the debates. So he could very will screw up pretty good. Add to that how he seems to get easily frustrated when questioned, your hoped for end result might not be as you expect.
