So you won't give up your tax cuts to save the defense budget but you will give them up if everyones taxes go up. Interesting. You do see that no matter what your taxes are going up and they will go up MORE if all the cuts are eliminated. That has got to be a first for you...wanting to pay more taxes. Kudos for that.
The Govt. has been spending 20% of GDP for the last 20 years and revenues are at 15% of GDP now. Does that make it more clear why the Bush tax cuts are temporary?
I will try to explain it to you so you can understand
what drives the deficit? it is too much spending
why do politicians spend too much
because the voters reward them with votes
How do we change that behavior?
taxing the rich more will not
indeed-taxing the rich more will allow big spending politicians to tell their constituents that the politicians NOW have the ability to spend even more to buy the votes of their faithful since the government NOW has more money to spend on the voters
saying the rich should pay EVEN MORE while everyone else retains their tax cuts is a message to the masses that they don't have a duty to help with the deficit-after all that will be handled by taxing the rich more
