the only way to ultimately get rid of the deficit is to make more government sickening to most of the voters

and only taxing the rich more won't do that

and what you dems want to do is only tax the rich

You are exactly right, that's been the only approach that has resulted in a budget surplus in the last 30 years.

Are you taking to me or dems? As for me, allow me to repeat, you need to cut spending and raise taxes. What part are you unclear about here?

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

Big deal..."They put it in writing". Since when did THAT mean anything?

Heck, twice, now, Democrats said they would cut spending if taxes are raised...guess what happened.

Politicians build their careers on political posturing. This public option support is just another example.

I listen and find that content is not necessary and this is because things are so simple to understand. The reason that I don't understand the Republican POV is an engineer like me sees a bunch of interdependencies in our economy that most don't want to work on or admit exist. The complexity is there. It was not created by any party. Sorry, the system even has various time delays in the feedback paths besides complex inputs. And your understanding is "They only want to blame Republicans."
Obama based his first Presidential campaign on blaming Republicans. He, Pelosi, Reid and a whole slew of Democrats have spent the last four years blaming Republicans. They all, including Obama in his current campaign, base their rhetoric on blaming Republicans. To my knowledge, they haven't spoken of complexity or interdependencies one bit. Heck, they won't even own up to the results of what they forced upon the American People...they only "blame Republicans".

    Ummm...

Is that a typo? Or are you that rare liberal who really wants to cut taxes?

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on the best way to deal with government spending, but I am interested in your notion that some Republicans want our government to fail. Could you give me examples? Name names of those whom you think want this to happen?

While I agree that, ultimately, you are correct here...I just don't trust the Democrats any time they propose doing both at the same time. Twice, they have made the promise of cutting spending if taxes are raised. Twice, taxes went up and spending never got cut. I'm sorry, but getting burned three times is unacceptable.

Show me the cuts...THEN we can talk about taxes.
