Threat? No
Wannabe? Yes
Wannabe? Yes
Considering the amount of people that defend Chavez as not a dictator and espouse his propaganda here in the US, I would say that Chavez is a propagandist threat.Threat? No
Wannabe? Yes
Chavez has been elected and re-elected over and over again in democratic elections certified as free and fair by teams of international observers. The people of Venezuela may know a thing or two about Chavez and about what he replaced in Venezuela that uninformed outsiders and international busy-bodies don't have any sort of grip on at all. Rational US policy would have had us working to find ways to cooperate in Venezuela over all these years, but instead we've been nothing but ignorant cheerleaders and grandstanders for the actual bad guys down there. That doesn't make much sense. Unless all you care about is money.
Hey dude, do you object to people using Fox News? 'Cause that would be freakin' hilarious.
I only object to people exclusively using fox to obtain information, or any other single news outlet. Much can be learned from fox but it just depends what one is trying to learn. If I may say, 'I do.'
Yeah and people in North Korea really do love Kim-Il-Sung and Kim-Jong-Il, so I guess that makes them democratic

They usually get pretty close on the weather. As far as actual news goes, they are pretty much just a right-wing infomercial network.I only object to people exclusively using fox to obtain information, or any other single news outlet. It's telling enough that you Like them once.I really wish I could like some posts multiple times.

that is precisely correct.
Yup. I spent about 6 months reading about these guys. Chavez is an a-hole and he supports a-holes.
I've dealt with actual factual information and actual analysis on the topic of Chavez and his extracurricular activities. Trust me on this one, DS, you are being suckered into defending a guy who really truly is someone you don't want to be associated with.
Being "not the worst" isn't a hall-pass for being as deliberately bad as they are, No one with the slightest interest in an independent approach to news and events should ever turn them on.while their editorial shows are pretty bad, their general news reporting isn't the worst I've come across (that would likely go to some internet outfit).
No, it's the same old narrow, skimmed and canned analyis as always, this time prefaced with I'm-an-expert=trust-me assurances that are simply a laugh.Perfect analysis...

Mitt Romney: Venezuela
Do you agree with Romney that Chavez poses a direct national security threat to the U.S.A, or do you think this is nothing more than fear mongering against socialism in Latin America that shouldn't be taken so seriously?
This story has been posted elsewhere on this forum but i am seeking to establish consensus amongst American users on DP through the use of a poll, to see if they agree or disagree with Mitt.

Actually what's telling is the continued leftist willingness to go to the mats to defend thugs because they happen to also be socialists.

If you have to double-check everything they say, why do you bother to go to Fox first? Wny not just skip directly to whatever sources you already recognize as being more reliable?I never trust the weather forecasters anywhere lol or any news station or site. I always double check the story to make sure.
The only thugs around here are the propaganda-driven people without a clue who want to bash away at the people of Venezuela for having at long last thrown off a regime of brutal impoverishers and oppressors. I meanwhile haven't supported a single Chavez policy. The only one I've so much as mentioned was the free home heating oil provided to hundreds of thousands of freezing Ameican families. All I've done otherwise is point out the feeble and hollow nature of complaints lodged against Chavez. These phony critics need to come up with some better material.Actually what's telling is the continued leftist willingness to go to the mats to defend thugs because they happen to also be socialists.
