    Is this worth it?

    Is it worth doing this:

World War II Vet, Battle Of The Bulge Medal Winner, Caught In Florida Voter Purge

    Doug Mataconis · Thursday, May 31, 2012 · 13 Comments

It would appear that Florida’s recent effort to purge its voters rolls of supposed invalid registrations was overzealous to say the very least:
A 91-year-old who received a Bronze Star for fighting in the Battle of the Bulge was reportedly told he may not be an American citizen, in an apparent mix-up due to Florida’s attempts to purge noncitizens from its voter rolls.
Bill Internicola received a letter this month stating that he had to prove he was a citizen or lose his right to vote, reports the Miami Herald.
Internicola, it appears, was caught up in Gov. Rick Scott’s statewide attempt to clear noncitizens from voter registration rolls before the election this November."

Yes it is worth it.The occasional mistakes will happen and they can be corrected. The fact the guy is a WWII vet is irrelevant.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

So a mistake took place. Not sure how purging a likely white republican voter from the rolls is evidence of republican suppression of minority demorat voter turnout though.

    Re: Is this worth it?

So....let's just make a very minor extrapolation.

Let's say only one guy gets booted incorrectly per county....with sixty counties we just traded voting rights for a dime.

And why would you assume a white older war vet would be republican?

He could have been a secret Nazi, but still Democrats would stand next to him for "the cause".

And the Nazis make their first appearance in the thread. lol

If anything, this is a good thing. It shows the government cares about him still being around and wants to know about his existence.

It depends. If you can prevent one democrat from voting, it's worth it. If it gets in the way of any republicans, then hell no it ain't worth it. [/sarcasm]

One guy out of 300,000,000? Meh.
I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.

Well, what if there is one person who votes illegally per county? You still have 60 voters disenfranchised. Look, it is 2012. There is no reason for the US to not be able to put together a fraud proof voting system. The idea that people need to have a photo ID or some other reasonable evidence of eligibility seems perfectly reasonable to me.

He got a letter and then proved his status. It is worth it to secure a fraud free election process.
