Which of these presidential elections gave us the best choice?

I sense that many people feel the choice of Obama or Romney is not much of a choice, that the result sucks either way. Which of these presidential elections do you think gave us the best choice, preferably that either man would have made a good president or, failing that, at least one of them was a great choice. In other words, choose the election where both candidates were of high quality. If no such choice exists, then pick the one where one candidate was of high quality.

I wanted to include every election since 1960, but the board's voting system only allows up to 10 choices, so I had to cut some.

That's one of the ones I made the subjective decision to cut. I had to cut 4 of them.

Good poll Luna Tick. I voted Clinton v. Bush senior. They both had leadership qualities, intellect and clarity of their poositions on key issues.

I would say that we had two decent nominees in 1960 (Kennedy/Nixon), 1968 (Humphrey/Nixon), 1976 (Carter/Ford), and 2008 (Obama/McCain). If I had to pick the best matchup, I would go with 1960.
