That's rich. Comparing a blowhard pig that didn't even go to college, who yaks on a radio talk show, to someone the LA Times named "The Best of Television's 2008 Top Ten Political newcomers of 2008, and who has a bachelor's degree in Public Policy and a Phd in Political Science from Oxford University, which she attended as a Rhodes Scholar. Yep, only a very uninformed right-winger would make that sort of comparison.

I understand that extremists like to defend their talking heads. None of it means she is not a partisan hack, which she proves she is time and time again. It's unfortunate she doesn't seem bright enough to put that 'education' to use.

she also has a huge agenda. she is an outspoken lesbian which probably shapes her hatred of the religious right and the party that the RR identifies with. Smart people can be extremely biased and will often use their "credentials" to advance their agenda. (look at socialist economists like Reich and Krugman who are outcome based advocates)

Yeah, I see you're trying to defend Rush.

She's a Democrat, works in a Liberal TV Station, geez, you gather that she should be praising the Republicans? Speaking up for the Democratic Party (which is her job) does not make her a partisan hack. Someone like you, who compares the rants of a wonk-radio host to an educated commentator is more likely a partisan hack than her.

It's unfortunate she doesn't seem bright enough to put that 'education' to use.
She doesn't seem bright enough to you because you don't agree with her politics, but there is no denying that she is bright. Your lame insults just shows who the dim bulb really is.

Re: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?

Madcow is a hack, Rush is a hack. Rush is far more successful than Madcow is

end of story

Re: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?

Dude, Rush is an idiot, so there is no defending him. But I see you are going on and on again trying to defend your talking head partisan hack. Pathetic.

Re: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?

No, paying your taxes is NOT patriotic if you believe those that control the taxes are corrupt and/or inept.

True patriotism is doing what you believe is best for your country...even if the government says otherwise.

Especially if the government says otherwise.

YOu all are just jealous or spiteful towards the rich

buffett is great to show the dishonesty of the dems

Buffett structures his salary so he pays as little as possible and then whines about it

Buffett supports taking 55% of every dollar over one million from the estates of somewhat wealthy people but he has set up his estate so the government gets ZERO

Buffett wants love and power. His schemes give him both and kill off his competition
Who's "jealous or spiteful towards" whom???

It sounds as if you are "extremely biased" [and you are a smart person, too].

Re: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?

This question is mounted on the assumption that words like patriotism or patriotic are more than just a way to guilt people in doing what you want them to do. People that use them try to put a connection in people to a country that doesn't even exist. It is trying to guilt people in thinking they should be responsible for everyone or help the country as a whole.

Nobody has to guilt trip me to pay my taxes. How can a superpower run with no money? The barter system? Taxes are necessary for the survival of a superpower. If you don't want your own country to survive, then I see that as treasonous.

I agree. Fighting two wars for over ten years without raising taxes to pay for them is nuts.

Your definition of treason is extremely broad.

Re: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?

Your definition of treason is extremely broad.

You're going directly against the survival of the country. Say you pay $20,000 in taxes yearly. What if a bridge project was $20,000 short (that would be paid by your taxes) and the bridge collapsed during that year? Is that just tough luck because you were too selfish to aid in the survival of your country? Treason

What if we had to make drastic cuts in our military because a band of citizens refused to pay their taxes? We then get invaded and don't have the manpower to fight the threat and America crumbles. Treason.

You have underestimated the importance of taxes

When the government is buying $500 hammers and $1000 toilet seats, it is not treason to seek to limit how much money they have to waste. If anything it is treasonous it's all of OUR money that government wastes.

What gives the individual the power to decide how the entire government ought to run. If you want a voice become a congressman. What if you received unemployment benefits and you lost them because a group of people didn't think that the government ought to have their money? I hope you like a cardboard roof bud

Re: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?

I believe most people call it 'the Constitution'.

The government wastes more of our money on 'pet projects' and give aways to contributors, than it actually spends wisely.

Hey, if you don't want to take the standard deduction (and other deductions) and just pay based on your gross income, go for it. But I'm guessing that doesn't happen.

Your individual wants have absolutely no voice in government unless it is done legally through legislation as stated iun the Consitution. You can't just decide not to pay your taxes because you don't like the way it's spent. Fix the system, pay your taxes.

None of these comments are really worthy of response.

Re: Is paying your taxes Patriotic?

Why? You are avoiding the fact that your Anarchist ways of "controlling government waste" are treasonous.

I just don't want to waste time explaining 'by the people, of the people, for the people.' It takes too much effort to knock a locomotive off it's tracks so it can look it more than one direction.
