I'd agree with you can't get it back...

Re: What should happen to those who renounce their US citizenship?

I haven't read the thread, so I may be redundant.

Basically I don't believe anyone should be punished for renouncing their citizenship, nor should anyone be banned from returning to the US. They should be treated like any other foreign national with a valid passport.

However, if someone renounces their citizenship and leaves the country owing back income tax, the government should certainly take whatever measures are necessary to retrieve what it is owed, including property confiscation.

If Republicans they should be given the Congressional medal of honor,$100,000 bucks cash, kissed on both cheeks before boarding a one flight to Easter Island.

I picked "other" in the poll. I think they should be given a box of Cheeze-Its and an autographed picture Edward R Murrow. I don't know why I think that, but I do.

You can keep the Freedom Medal (CMoH is only for military members) and the kisses. I'll take the $100K and a plane ticket to Pakistan.

Re: What should happen to those who renounce their US citizenship?

I do not differentiate much between someone who take a huge slice from the American pie and goes and hides it an offshore account in Bermuda, Switzerland or The Cayman Islands, than I do someone who wants to take the money and run, thus avoiding due taxes, etc. I put them in the same pidgeon hole as the corporations that move their operations overseas. If it were left up to me, they would all be stripped of their American citizenship at a very minimum.

But if no laws are broken, and we ARE a nation of laws, it just is what it is. It matters not what I think.

I'm thinking we should all start a fund to help ol' Tigger out. Perhaps set up a PayPal account for everyone to donate too.

If everyone who would like to see Tigger go away and live in Pakistan would donate a quarter (.25 USD,) I'm thinking we'd have 100k and a one-way plane ticket in no time at all. Let's help our buddy out folks!
