Since when was income tax the only tax that funded the government?

It isn't but its the main tax that is used as a political football and it is the main source of power that congress gets through manipulating the tax system

That's because people are ignorant. Payroll taxes bring in nearly the same amount and Congress monkeys around with that all the time. And congress gets a HUGE amount of power by manipulating the corporate code. The past 11 years has been nothing but screwing with the corporate code to favor certain industries.

when you have presidential campaigns making the payroll tax a major campaign issue i might find this true. Right now Obama's main campaign issue is whining about the rich and making them pay more taxes. I agree with the corporate code but then again I for the life of me cannot find many advertisements from Romney or the turd in the white house making much of that though Romney has said that we need to make America more friendly towards American business

The libertarian right simply cannot pass up any opportunity - even a weak one - to further the cause celebre of attacking Franklin Roosevelt.
I attack him at every opportunity. What he did to the nation then is the reason we have so many problems involving liberty today. If there is a Hell justice would put him there.

ITs too bad he didn't croak about 11 years earlier-our country would be far better off now

. . .The courts have ruled that the taxation powers of Congress supercede individual liberty.
This is why the nation is doomed. This wound is mortal. The only question is how long the wounded nation will take to die. Whatever comes next will not be the United States of America.

...
Keep in mind that this could all have been avoided of conservatives hadn't done everything in their power to kill single payer and the public option. If this decision does all of the things you're afraid it does (though it doesn't), you have no one but yourselves to blame.

Are you willing to wage a fight to the death over everything? Your opponents are. They honestly believe they have no other alternative because they don't think your side acts in good faith. I assume folks who are left of center realize this means the end of the established order in this country.
