Rep. Issa's refusial to put on witnesses who offer other than his point of view. He has a reputation as a man who cares nothing for truth & would destroy reputations without a thought. Are we to wait longer & allow him to assasinate more reputations, Edward R. Murrow spoke out on the puplic airwaves to end McCarthy's reigne, otherwize he would have gone on forever. While no comparing myself to Murrow, I do believe his (Issa) Reigne has gone on long enough, it may take longer before real public outrage hurts him, but there was outrage befor Murrow, Just not a Majority.

I can only conclude that you are overreaching in order to taint Issa in a method similar to what many did by constantly referring to Chamberlin and appeasement.

Issa stages productions not investigations. He could at least attempt the appearance of even handed but instead he winks to his base and the band plays on.

After his contraception hearing it isn't too early to make the comparison with McCarthy. Joe didn't start out shouting, he worked up to it.

Issa isn't looking too good, so far.
It's my opinion that he has no interest in the good of the nation, nothing but a bottom feeder hyper-partisan hack, willing to drag the country down in the muck, if it futhers his (the R's) agenda. Hey, looks as if I'm not alone.

I was looking for the option that simply stated he was a ridiculous clown.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

I didn't vote in the poll. Rep Issa is a watery fart right now, not yet worthy of a comparison to McCarthy or a permanent stain of our history.

Even Jesus or Hitler didn't start out being the Historical figures we all think of when their names are mentioned.
In a perfect world we can stop Issa before he reaches legendary proportions of evil.

Re: Is Rep. Darrel Issa the new Joe McCarty?

I'm not sure if it applies to this case, but...

IMO "because we want to" (the real meaning of "executive privilege" or whatnot) is not a valid reason to withhold information.
If someone did something stupid, we should know about it so we can kick their ass out of office, come next election.

Granted that since the people who that kind of rule would hurt are the ones who would be in charge of writing/passing such a rule, it very likely won't happen...

And of course, if such information would hurt the US by revealing secrets that need to stay such...well then I can see keeping that info secret.

Problem is that can be abused as well…but I’m by no means convinced that a completely open information policy would be reasonable. For diplomatic reasons, if nothing else – other nations simply wouldn’t communicate with us at the same level if they knew any communications they sent might show up in the news, easily accessed by intelligence agents for nations or forces opposed against them.

Sort of a catch 22 situation really – you probably can’t have any kind of (if it isn’t a cliché by now) “world peace” without something like a worldwide completely open information policy, and it would be nearly impossible (with today’s tech) to have a completely open information policy worldwide without world peace…heh.

If there's nothing to hide, then why use Executive Privilege? Let them see what they want to see. It seems simple enough.

Re: Is Rep. Darrel Issa the new Joe McCarty?

If doing 'something stupid' is grounds from removing from governmental service....

well most of many past administrations would be empty from the Commander in Chief's seat on down.

Fact is past administrations have withheld information many on the other side of the aisle not to mention many concerned citizens.

Now about the potential for Rep Issa to make it to McCarthy/**** stain on history. I never say never but I just see our little pooper making it to the big time. Could be wrong about the guy but he just doesn't have that old time religion burn deep in the belly to grandstand with over the top poses for TV.

He reminds me more of an anal-retentive accountant who wants just keeps picking on your last nerve but never enough backbone to truly push the issue.

Will be interesting to see if he will put on his big boy pants and try to go toe to toe.
