    The woman is an idiot.

Yep I agree. Like I said, it's all about self-control. One can not let the horses run wild in life.

Couldn't they just turn up the microphone so that you could hear the names over the ruckus?

IMO, not really a viable solution.

Did you see the video I posted? That group of parents actually drowned out a frickin MARCHING BAND.

Great. So graduation ceremonies become a battle of the noise makers ending up in rock-concert volumes?

How about this - hoot and holler at the graduation party you throw for your child.

Let the formal ceremony for ALL, be enjoyed by ALL, with decorum and class.

You can show enthusiasm for your child in ways that don't offend others around you.

but do we now arrest people for being crass?
because of our foolish policies we how have 5% of the world's population but 25% of the world's prison population
we shouldn't make such stupidity even more lopsided

I stated earlier I thought the arrest was over-the-top.

I agree with removing those people, and fines if the level of obnoxious is extraordinary.

Definitely remove these people from the audience, take them away.

And I throughly detest these loud obnoxious people - but arrest is not a good thing. Beatings or tasering? Maybe... fines? Perhaps if the circumstances warrant. Arrest? No....
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

    Did the authorities act accordingly?
Is this really an arrest-worthy offense?
Was the mother out of line?
Did she deserve to be arrested?

Are you in favor of this kind of police action?
Do you support the arrest of this mother?
What the hell is this country coming to? First a kid can't get his diploma because other people cheered to loudly for him and now this mother can't cheer for her daughter. Freaking stupid.

And I certainly don't agree that a graduation ceremony should ever be considered "solemn" occasion. A funeral is a solemn occasion. A graduation ceremony? That's cause for celebration.

If you're offended by someone else showing enthusiasm for their child graduating then you have problems. People do have a right to free speech so long as it does not endanger anyone else. And a person cheering for thier kid graduating certainly does not fall under that purview.

You however do not have a right to not be offended.

    Ummm...

I suppose you don't mind the obnoxious people a couple of rows down in the movie theater who insist on having a party during the film?
