If Romney wins the election - then I am not optimistic.
The rich will continue to become richer.......
 
To me, pessimism just denotes a bit of reality-based thinking.

I think that's an idea held by a lot of people. Optimists are typically thought of as being irrational, while pessimists are thought of as being more reasonable and realistic. Personally however, I think an overly pessimistic outlook is hardly supported by the data. There are obviously many reasons to be concerned, but I think most things are getting better, and if we can plan responsibly, that should continue.
