Re: Are you going to vote in the upcoming presidential election?

It is true your one vote will not make a difference in who gets elected. But your vote does count. While the popular vote does not determine who will be President, it can still have an effect. Will the President have a mandate or not? Have third parties garnered enough votes that the main parties may adjust their actions in order to win some of them back? The popular vote is important, and that is made up of all of our individual votes. I think it is particularly important to vote if you are voting for a third party, and it has nothing to do with whether or not your candidate will actually win.

Sadly most that will be voting, have no idea what the names of their current two senators are or the name of their current house represenatative is, much less who is running against them. Many voters simply vote a straight party ticket and even then have no idea who they voted for except for the office of president. Morons voting like this keep the current morons in DC safely re-elected (I predict over 80% of those running will be re-elected) even though congress has a public approval rating barely above roadkill. I intend to vote. As usual I will do my best to try and research candidates before hand, and as usual, other than the President, and national congressional representatives, I will more than likely fail.

Someone else's lack of information should not be our reason for not voting.
