    Who Loses Better?

IYE, which side loses better, with more grace and a willingness to work with the elected officials they never wanted?

Dagnabit, I meant to add a poll!

    (1) Democrats

    (2) Republicans

    (3) Third party members

This goes back and forth the way I see it...sometimes its democrats, sometimes its republicans...

We saw in the last congress how Pelosi treated the republicans with obamacare....but right now today its the GOP that are stonewalling and no one can deny that with a straight face

I guess it depends on whether you're looking at state or national politics. Ohio, like many states is at present almost completely GOP-run. (Cleveland and the county it sits in, by contrast, is almost completely Democratically-controlled. This has apparently been true for over a century and does not seem like it will ever change.)

All of this is strange because of the landslide in 2010. The GOP took the House and nearly took the Senate. When Congress and the White House are of totally different parties, it's natural for them to go to the mattresses. I'd be surprised if they did anything else.

But in a year with more normal results -- let's say Romney wins and the GOP hangs on to at least the House -- will Democrats behave better and find ways to work compromises with Republicans, IYO?

If the reverse happens, Obama wins and the House returns to Democratic control, will (most) Republicans become more flexible?

As for the voters: among people you know, when the results of an election are the exact opposite of what they hoped for, who feels anger the most or the longest, IYE?

I thnk third party. They don't expect to win and are pleased with a good showing which can also be translated to "none of the above."

I agree that it goes back and forth as to who is better of the main parties. Definitely third party loses best because they have the most practice.

I also agree the right is stonewalling the left-wing movements. However, that is what they promised to do to get elected. They were running on stopping the current administrations' spending and policies. They have also introduced tons of legislation themselves that has been simply ignored and won't see a vote any time soon.

I actually think both sides make horrible losers and winners. Decorum is not the forte of politicians.

They may have posted it, but likely it's on another forum. Check in DP Rules, Sports, or maybe in one of the Zimmerman threads.

What about voters? People you know? Does the average Republican lose better, IYO?

I agree about third party voters. I often wonder about people who vote for a man like Raplh Nader for President every election. What could possibly be the pay off?
