Lord have mercy; once you hit post the first time, DP is not programmed to permit you to add a poll, and I made a mistake in doing this. Should I be horsewhipped for it?

Did you want a poll on that question as well?

To tell you the truth, I've never done a poll. Well, not on DP. I did do a Pole from New Jersey once.

I agree about third party voters. I often wonder about people who vote for a man like Raplh Nader for President every election. What could possibly be the pay off?
I was raised by very liberal democrats mostly. Honestly, they were horrible losers. I don't pretend that the sampling is a fair one, though! They absolutely sucked at losing, though. I'll never forget Bush's second election. My mother threw a party of her most liberal friends so they could watch him lose. Somehow she got the idea that I was voting for Bush (I skipped the presidential vote that time around) and early in the evening they were dancing and cheering as the democrats voted.

As the night wore on, my mother started getting madder and madder and started sniping at me and even kicked people out. It turned into a bunch of folks sitting around complaining how the whole world was about to end. It wasn't a pretty sight.

I honestly don't think it's a party issue, however. Some folks are bad losers, some are good ones.

Your Mommy is unusual in that she remained far left her entire life. I began there, but a little life experience goes a long way. By the time my kid was born, I was a Republican.

In brief, I think this country is at its best when the most people possible are either in the middle class or have the opportunity to rise to it during their young adulthood. I think Republicans do a better job (or at least usually aspire to) of regulating business without killing it. I think very few freedoms matter much if their is no economic justice or freedom.

I'm still far left as your Mommy is on social issues, especially if by adopting them we'd need no more government. But on many others, I'd be considered by most people to be a conservative -- or a fascist.

My mother was stuck in academia as a professor most of her adult life. Not much hope of her changing those views.

And I'm not sure I understood your phrasing. Do you mean that you like or dislike more government?

I fall to the final conclusion on several left social issues, but usually from a different path. SSM to me is not the business of our government, for example. They need to get the hell out of it. Rather, I support equal rights approaches because it's preservation of a right, but they really really should not be trying to prevent equal rights.

There is nothing unusual about Keridan's Mommy. Having a little life experience make you wishy-washy is probably better kept to yourself.

Third parties are definitely best at losing. Practice makes perfect.

I'd like more cops and fewer bedroom police, in brief.
