Are you kidding me? Most of what ObamaCare does is ADD stuff to the 'minimum' things required to be in ALL medical insurance plans. Obviously adding benefits will increase premuim costs, even Obama knows that, yet he constantly lies, changing the subject to "overall medical care costs" which somehow include "savings" from the taxpayers covering what the deadbeats will not. It is all smoke and mirrors accounting. You can not add people to the 'system', cut premium costs and increase the benefits covered and save any money, it is mathmatically impossible.

Take this VERY simple example: Mr. Doe has $50,000 in the bank, a 'catastrophic' medical insurance policy (very high deductable, very low premium cost and a very high annual limit - illegal under ObamaCare) and normally pays cash for his medical care and is now quite happy and a burden to no other citizen. He must now give up that 'good' insurance (yep, he can not keep it any more since it is not "fair", poor people can't use that kind of policy beacuse the annual deductable is $15,000) and replace with an Obama approved plan that has much higher premium costs, or pay a fine. Mr. Doe is RIGHTLY upset, as either way he loses in an average year, based on his personal medical care experience. He must either waste money on a more expensive insurance policy that he does not need or by paying the gov't fine.

You hit the nail on the head..

My insurance (over age 50) is 153.00 per month, 5,000.00 yearly deductible (includes co-pay in that), under the new Federally Insurance Plan, my premiums would be 434.00 per month with a 2,000.00 or maybe it was 2,500.00 yearly deductible. I would have a 40.00 copay for doctors visits with Obama's plan, so what? I pay 60.00 to my Doc now and see him once a year for a checkup which is covered at 100% with no deductible BTW and my yearly BP medicine (10.00 for a 3 month supply at my local drugstore) So why would anyone in their right mind want Obamacare?

Thank you. It should remain legal to pay cash for medical care and to gamble on one's health and forgo expensive insurance premiums. I too get substantial 'cash discounts' for both my medications (blood thinner, also $10/3 mo. supply) and for my clinic visits for the related lab blood work required ($17.00/mo. cash, but $38.00 + $10.00 copay/mo. w/insurance). Clinic's love cash payments at the time of treatment, as it saves them paperwork/billing costs and they get immediate positive cash flow. Why should responsible citizens pay a fine to help subsidize the "free" care of deadbeat morons?

I find it very ironic that conservatives are complaining about the GOP created insurance mandate as a result of Obama compromising on health care reform, rather than pushing through the single payer system, that we will eventually have to go to anyway.

More competition, allow individuals to purchase policies across state lines would be one big help

But, the way it was written, Insurance companies had no choice in raising prices, I have read about half of the Law, it is mind boggling..... I wonder how many in Congress, even after all this time have read more than 100 pages of it :doh

It might help a little, but not much. In some cases the reasons inurance is higher in some states could just as easily bleed into orther states.
