Rules of write ins vary by state and most would be thrown away. I've supported Ron Paul, but I never understood this idea of writing him in when there are so many restrictions against it. I've been saying that if Paul doesn't run third party that I would probably vote for Governor Johnson. I know for a fact that I will never vote for Obama or Romney.

He'll definitely pull out at 4%. I see that happening even if he fully gets behind Romney and encourages his supporters to get behind Romney. I'm considering a Paul write-in mainly because I'm so burned out on this election already, and can't work up any enthusiasm for anyone. I'd leave that part blank (I do want to vote in the Senate race.) but I'm afraid of my ballot getting tossed. At least in voting for Paul or not voting at all, I can say that I didn't vote for _________ when ______________ becomes President and our country is still going to hello...

He has a large support base, so yeah, I think he'll get over 4%. I don't think he has a snowballs chance in hell of winning, though. At this point, he's more of a figurehead than a realistic candidate.

I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.

Yes, sadly, I know you're right. However, at least my conscience will be clean when one of the two main characters running continues to screw up the country.

If it's any consolation, he did make a third party seem a lot more achievable. I have a feeling I'll see it happen someday.

Yeah, me too. I saw numbers today that say for the first time in history more non-white children were born than white in a year. Minorities tend to lean towards the Democrats more. Eventually, Republicans are either A)Going to have to change (yeah right) or B) Go away in favor of a more Libertarian type party. I would love to see that.

The GOP, as it is, is a dead party. Civilization shifted away, and they just got increasingly ridiculous and corrupt.

Who cares, he's going to lose the election. How much he loses by is irrelevant.

Re: Over/under 4% for ron paul's write in votes

I think it does matter. Voting for Ron Paul is basically the equivalent of none of the above (an option unique to my state I think). Each vote for Paul is a declaration of frustration, bordering on despair.

I've seen America in trouble before and I've seen it recover. However, the world has changed around us and we have always been reluctant to modernize. We desperately need real leaders whose passion is for our nation, not their career path, wealth accumulations and benefits. Certainly the 2 options we are being offered are not "great leaders". They are politicians, not wise men. We also need to grow up. We've been acting child like for too long. I suspect we've arrived at "different times" and I must admit, the glass seems half empty.

So, I plan to vote for Paul. I think it will at least be a tiny effort to put the next President on some small degree of notice. I'll guess that the 4% figure is accurate.
