So now Obama who is a centrist in my view is considered a socialist by them.
The extreme right and left do the most yapping, make the most accusations, are the most intolerant and frame the debate most politicians have to deal with. The average person just shuts it all off and votes for a party. No wonder politicians are either out of touch or afraid to take a stand.

Good post and I agree....the far left has gone off the deep end in times past....but right now today...its all about the far right and the far right are absolutely responsible for nothing meaningful getting done...and anyone that pays attention at all...knows that moderates from both sides are disgusted with the right...This new teaparty of the rich for the rich contingency that got elected all took an IDIOTIC pledge...not to compromise and the rest of america has bee screwed since...they havent done squat since the last election

I do think Obama is more liberal than Romney, but that doesn't mean I support Romney.

I want Republicans to win the midterms in 2014. I want the GOP nominee in 2016 to be someone much more conservative than Romney.
Ironically, a second Obama term would provide the best odds of a conservative win in 2016.

meh, he's not a liberal, but I wouldn't call him conservative, either. He's more of a big money corporatist that doesn't seem to have a foot in the real world.

What exactly makes Romney "liberal" in the American sense?

He was a pro-choice governor of a East Coast state who passed a healthcare reform bill that required all MA residents buy insurance. You might as well be Bob Avakian in some circles with that resume.

    Good question.

    According to Johnny:

In general, conservative means keeping the status quo, and liberal means one who supports progressive change.
So, that would mean that Romney supports progressive change.

But, I'm not so sure that's the case, really.
