He's clearly an idiot. People kiss and certainly hug people they don't intend to have sex with at all frequently. Maybe Tennessee should get a governor who isn't a Duggar and can therefore make logical decisions.

Fowler also pointed to a Planned Parenthood-organized program at a school in Knoxville, where students were directed to a web site "that actually lists as possible methods of birth control things like oral sex and anal sex play that I think most Tennesseans would find inappropriate."

I wouldn't say say that huggin', kissin', and gropin' inherently lead to sex... but I think we'll find that sex is preceded by huggin' ,kissin', and gropin' in nearly every case.

that said, this is not smart legislation.
I don't think it's proper for a sex ed instructor to condone any sex acts ( gateway or otherwise)... but I don't think it's a problem worth making a law over.
just teach the teachers not to condone any act, and just relay and explain sex education information.... discipline the teachers if they go off the reservation... don't make a vague law about it.

Tennessee teachers can no longer condone so-called "gateway sexual activity" such as touching genitals under a new law that critics say is too vague and could hamper discussion about safe sexual behavior.

David Fowler, president of the Family Action Council of Tennessee, which pushed the bill, told Reuters the law does not ban kissing or holding hands from discussion in sex education classes. But he said it addresses the touching of certain "gateway body parts," including genitals, buttocks, breasts and the inner thigh.

Ten characters.

even a little kiss can easily make a man's libido move up

If I read this correctly, the law isn't about kissing or hugging, but touching breasts, buttocks, genitals. I'm wondering since he said the "kissing and hugging" thing during an interview on Comedy Central, was he kidding?

Total toolbox for sure. But why stop at kissing and hugging? talking to the opposite sex can lead to hugging and kissing. Wait, eye contact leads to talking. Wait, vicinity leads to eye contact, which leads to talking, which leads to hugging and kissing.

10 to 1 these clowns are closeted and hate themselves, hate women and can't deal with it at all.

Hell, back in my bird dawgin days a second glance or shashay got my ahhhh 'interest' up. :3oops:

Wonder if this website so many 'conservatives' are upset about has more than BJs and anal sex as alternatives. Most websites have a ton of information and most teen girls I know, and don't judge me...LOL, but seems it is the 35+ woman who does anal, not the sweet meat treat. As the joke goes, she may not at 20 but she damn sure will by 40!

Seems to me the conservative politicians don't have much 'faith' in their children. I wouldn't want the basketball coach teaching my daughter oral sex is a good birth control method, but then again the TV news says most teens consider oral the new 3rd base.

What inbred thinks the kids don't already know all about oral, anal, group gropes, and three finger salutes and have already made up their minds?

Well at least til they are 30...;)

The title is deceptive, it was a comedian who said that "kissing and hugging are the last stop before Groin Central Station", not the governor.

The governor is actually just trying to keep sex-ed teachers from condoning things like oral and anal and "heavy petting".

He's being lampooned and tarred with things he didn't say simply because he's pro-abstinence and some people just hate that.

I want to face palm so badly. I know people in their 20s who think you can cure herpes, or who think you can't get pregnant the week after your period, or any other number of incorrect, unsafe things. This is largely because of piss poor sexual education and bad communication with parents. And now we want to limit the conversation even further because....why, exactly? Teens are going to have sex, whether we like it or not. We can encourage and promote abstinence all day, but we need to be simultaneously informing them on how to protect themselves if abstinence fails. We do them a massive disservice if we don't.

This is one of those "lesser of two evils" situation. Are you insulting your ideology more if you provide information, or if you don't? Is it better if you protect the child through education or risk the child being harmed through omission?

You are right, I misread the quote :(

It does read as if the governor said that.... and how rarely does media purposely make headlines phrases out of context misleading. uh, never mind.

I see. I knew something was wonky there.

Ah well. I was mislead, but at least I made a funny poll!

A-freaking-men!!

It's scary that the kids in Tennessee will be getting a piss poor sexual education, and will be put at risk for diseases that could effect the rest of their lives. Because some people don't like their sensibilities to be hurt.

I really don't see the problem with a law against grabbing someone's junk in school. Am I missing something here?

That's not what the law is preventing. The law is preventing teachers who are teaching sex ed from talking about said activities. Laws against molesting children are already in place.
