I cant get past the mentality that allowed for the slaughter of 6million people...id reluctantly take the USSR

Nazi Germany. Better food.

Many of the answers so far reflect the relative naivete regarding both times/places. Common (mis-)perception says Nazi Germany was worse, when in fact both were pretty much the same regarding oppression and the possibility of being whisked away and never seen by your family again, with only relatively minor differences as in which specific groups were targeted. Stalin wasn't any better than Hitler, he was just our ally (out of necessity), that's all.

I'd be dead in both nations, so neither.

Assuming I wasn't a known targeted person, the quality of life, for non targeted persons inside of Nazi Germany, was far superior to that of your average Russian peasant.
I was discovering that life just simply isn't fair and bask in the unsung glory of knowing that each obstacle overcome along the way only adds to the satisfaction in the end. Nothing great, after all, was ever accomplished by anyone sulking in his or her misery.

I would much rather live in a corrupt communist state than one that is fueled by hatred for everyone else.
