the choice to use school vouchers to send kids to private school

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

    Aww look at that.

Though I wonder how honest people will be. I think that it's rather clear that pro-life folk tend to be more "pro-life" in general than pro-choice folk are "pro-choice". Though it shouldn't be a surprise as both of those terms are propaganda terms specifically for the abortion debate.

This poll is going to fail for the same reason the other one will. Different situations require different reactions. However, your first one is interesting in that it almost works, just not in the way you intend. Almost no one is suggesting either a complete ban on abortion, or a complete ban on gun ownership. Likewise, almost no one is sugesting a completely unregulated owndership of weapons, or complete, unrelgulated right to abortion. As is almost always the case, there is this huge middle ground that most people inhabit but that those on the very extreme cannot see.

    Re: Pro-abortioners/pro-choicers poll.

I took "shoot the attacker." Simply put, you should have the right to protect your property and family in your own home.

We already accept certain limits on the right to bear arms. For example, you'd be hard pressed to find many people who think you should have a right to have a nuclear missile silo in your backyard, or a tank in your driveway.

I don't support legalization of marijuana. I'm not particularly against it, I'm just not for it.

As far as vouchers go, I think that private schools should be private. Not publicly funded. If the government pays for a basic right, such as the right to an attorney if you're arrested, that's fine. You don't have a right to go to a private school anymore than you have the right to own a Cadillac.

For those of you who say "my body, my choice" or "keep YOUR laws off MY body", do you think it should be legal for a pregnant woman to use heroine for recreational purposes?

Different issues, different beliefs behind these issues. The poll is essentially a giant straw-man that tries to catch people in some kind of hypocrisy that isn't there.

Not all, but many pro-choice people argue in favor of legalized abortion on the grounds that no one should be forcing their morals on someone else. In fact, this is implied merely by using the term "pro-choice".

I don't particularly think that heroin should be legal at all, pregnant or not.

It's a different issue altogether, though. Drugs bring about criminal acts which then the government has to deal with. Not just in the dealers, but users often will resort to theft to support their habit. People who get abortions don't need to steal to support their abortion habit, so it doesn't have the same effect on society.
