"God is the name by which I designate all things which cross my path violently and recklessly, all things which alter my plans and intentions, and change the course of my life, for better or for worse."

America is still one of the most free countries. What truly scares me though....is if the right-wing agenda is ever able to gain a foothold, we will see many of those freedoms disappear.
America will never reach her full potential until "Liberty and Justice for all" is not just an empty promise

Was it ever, really?
Eternity is an awfully long time, especially towards the end.
Hi, I'm from Europe, where the history comes from.
When I start to doubt I start to read what people from other countries have to say about freedom of speech or freedom of assembly, shudder, and go back to realizing that the answer is "we're still pretty okay, yeah."

I wasn't trying to dish the USA, just pointing out it isn't the home of the free as much as it used to be. Though I gotta admit I do not like the idea of the govt deciding what is best/safest for me. I prefer to make these decisions myself. I do know that Cuba is a very safe place to visit one of the safest in the Caribean. The restrictions imposed are not for your safety but for political reasons. Good reasons/bad reasons that could be another thread, but they are reasons decided by political policy, not concern for the safety of american citizens.I don't have a problem with my country not allowing to visit some 3rd world country because it is done to protect my safety

A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.

Yes - we're still free. We reserve rights and liberties that other counties still don't (not all, of course) - and we're still not under the governance of anyone but our own selves (where our 'freedom' originated: freedom from the British Monarchy and hteir unjust ruling)
