Would You Live in a Neighborhood which is Predominantly African-American?

An article about Zimmerman jarred me into posting this poll. The question is simple. Would you live in a neighborhood which is predominantly African-American?

Sheesh, will anybody try to answer the question. I realize it is a loaded question as "Have you quit beating your wife yet?". Still, that's the point. Saying yes is almost certainly an unadulterated form of hypocrisy and hypocrisy is the point.

How about I don't know because I don't make it a point to check the race of the majority of the people in the areas in which I live.

I care about price, nearness to places I would need to often go (work, school, stores, etc.), and how well the place fits my space/looks wants for my budget. I have lived in many different places in my life, and not once did I check the demographics of the area to find out the population distribution. Hell, honestly, I've never even checked on crime rate for any area I've lived in.

So you might call this a yes, since it isn't even something I care to check into when I look for a place to live.

I would, but there aren't any around here that aren't in terribly unsafe areas. With that said my best neighbors are the black family across the street.

There are also many predominantly white neighborhoods around here (trailer parks lol) that I wouldn't move into for the same reasons.

While I understand your train of thought, I suspect it may be a bit naive. Good Luck, but I hope you don't have any family dependent on your decision-making skills.

I lived in an apartment complex that was predominantly minorities -- black and hispanic. It was a quiet place. So, yes.

Well, lucky for me the military has most of the say where my family and I live. In fact, my neighbors change out all the time too.

I will give you, that most of those housing choices were made while I was single.

But that doesn't change the fact that not too many people in this country, particularly those living on less than $40K a year, can afford to care about the demographics or crime rate for the area they live in. Many feel lucky if they can find a place that fits the first two things I mentioned as important to me.

That is clear. I was more interested in if people would (gladly live...). I seriously doubt many would. Political correctness is my pet peeve, and I've yet to hear in substance from them.
