Actually NP I have to hand it to you, you make me feel better about things, because now that I seriously thought about it things aren't as bad as they seem when you think about how you are doing individually.

none of those are right wingers

As a side note, only one President has ever directly affected the quality of my life that I can absolutely blame on him (it was negatively affected).

Pres. Bush (Jr.) came onto our ship right before we were going to pull into San Diego after being out to sea for almost 10 months to make the "Mission Accomplished" speech. Those of us on the flight deck listening to it could see San Diego from the deck. In fact, we were close enough to pull in the day before.

At the time, this was definitely a crappy thing. Overall though, it didn't really greatly affect the quality of my life as a whole. I'm pretty sure there is little a President can do directly to affect the quality of a person's life in a lasting way.

maybe right-wingers don't want to say "yes" to the poll, cause it will show Obama isn't the devil

The "devil" is those who lie, twist the truth, state opinion as fact.
Of course, I am not above doing this......at times
I do not think I am better off than I was 3 years ago.
But whose fault is this ?
Not our President, be it Obama, Reagan, or Bush.
Mine.
I am doing OK thanks to the "liberals" and Franklin Roosevelt.
My family, 20 years down the road will be doing well, IMO, thanks to President Obama.

Wow, 232 posts on this thread so far.
In the past 3 years:
1) Feb 2010, we purchased, short sale, a home in the Phoenix area in a neat neighborhood that we enjoy in the winter. The neighborhood now has fewer vacant homes and the 'Zillow' value is going up.
2) We made the highest offer (about 37% of new construction), short sale, on another home. Expecting this to complete shortly. This will be an investment and a place for a family member.
3) Our home in MI has held it's value since our purchase 6 years ago is valued slightly above our purchase price.
4) Our 'stock' investments have done very well, and we've moved them to a manager so we have more free time.
5) Our performance in a athletic sport has improved significantly and we'er having more fun than ever with it.
6) Our first grandchild, healthy, born Dec 31.
7) I've been 'retired' at 55, about a decade ago. My wife retired 2009. We are very busy now, and it's fun.

Our only problem is: What kind of social safety net our sick family member will have when we are gone. Without our management and our dealing with government offices there will be problems.

i thought you were going to put aside your bias?

i am better off, just retired at 53......sailing the caribbean. i have much less cash inflow, but also less outflow. i don't think food prices have tripled.

Aunt Spiker is debatable. I didn't say they were all right wing. I said they were mostly right wing.

They're out of touch because they're not voting the way you thought they would? You just want to run off on another rant about Obama and the poll isn't making it easy so you're insulting people who are voting the "wrong way".

Real mature.

Your wrong my left wing friend, I am not surprised at all....I have been a member here for almost 7 years and I know the make up of the people and their political views. I can assure you that the results of this poll do not reflect how people feel on the national level.

If you blame the president for all your problems, it's no wonder your life sucks so much. First of all, you criticized Obama because your stock portfolio has been flat. Well, the market as a whole is up 60% since he took office, so chalk that one up to your own financial incompetence. Second of all, you attacked Obama from the LEFT for not giving you a handout (i.e. you wanted a COLA when the cost of living hadn't increased according to the statistical calculations).

Here's some advice for you: If you want to be better off than you were 3 years ago, then worry about how to make your OWN life better, rather than how Obama impacts your life. There's nothing you can really do about that, aside from voting/campaigning for someone else.

Don't shed any tears for me my left wing friend I am fine because I am retired and planned for my retirement.......I just feel sorry for those who didn't and all the broken promises Hussein Obama made.......

And the truly comical part is that if a conservative had said those exact same words, people here would call that conservative a heartless and out of touch prick.

Ive very happy to see so many liberal folks doing well and espousing the virtue of hard work and personal reliance as the keys to success. You need to do a better job of spreading that message around!

Nothing wrong with advocating political policies that you think will help people in general; the President and Congress can and should push for policies that will make us better off. But in general, that's an aggregate effect from 300 million people. Unless your life circumstances are somewhat unusual (e.g. you're in prison or active-duty military or relying exclusively on government assistance), the impact that they have on you personally is probably very very small.

The way I look at it is like this: The identity of the president (within the realm of plausible options) plays a small role in the overall way our federal government operates. The way our federal government operates (within the realm of plausible options) plays a small role in the overall state of the economy. The state of the economy plays a small role in my personal finances. And my personal finances play a small role in my personal well-being.

So the president is many steps removed from my personal well-being. If any president has ever had any impact on my life, it's been pretty minor and unnoticeable.

People who did not plan for their retirement would not be in any better shape no matter who the president is.

So where is your polling to prove this NP?

sorry, but without evidence for what you supposedly know, what you know ain't worth jack.

Navy, if you had restructured the poll to ask whether or not I think the United States is better off since Obama, I would have replied "no." I am voting for the presumptive Republican nominee, after all.

Whether or not it does is immaterial, that was not the premise of your original post.
If you are or not explain in what way.
There was no requirement of us to reflect how people feel on the national level.

You asked a question, people answered it,and now you move the goalposts because you don't like the answers.

Don't shed any tears for me my left wing friend I am fine because I am retired and planned for my retirement
Since you won't congratulate those of us who managed to prosper these past few years due to hard work and wise investments, allow me to congratulate you for your planning and foresight.
.......I just feel sorry for those who didn't
Bleeding heart liberal.Next you'll be suggesting that the nanny state government intervenes for them.
and all the broken promises Hussein Obama made.......
Obama is neither the first, nor will he be the last, politician to break promises.

I know...and agree. What you are espousing is a very JFK esque form of Liberalism.

How'd you manage to pull that off with such a piss poor investment adviser?

Redress at least 50% of the Liberals in DP are ashamed to be identified as such. They call themselves private, other, Independent, moderate, etc when they are really Liberals........They try and hide it but their posts give them away. Sadly there are even a couple who claim to be Conservative who are closet Libs. That is why the polls are not closer in DP......
