So, NP, about those polls you claim are different in the real world...gunna show them or continue to hide?
...Yeah when Bush left unemployment was at about 5% now its 8.2% under Hussein Obama......you do the math......
seriously man?
are you really gonna just spew this garbage and not take any responsibility for it?
So virtually everyone in this forum, especially libs are better off than they were 4 years ago. There are a million fewer jobs than their was 4 years ago, gas cost twice as much, house prices are off a cliff and we as a nation are 4 trillion more in debt. Apparently you people were living under a bridge 4 years ago if things are better now.
I forgot the unemployment numbers which would be way over 10% if not for tricky accounting schemes.

Putting aside my bias which some people can't do I will say no.
Hussein Obama and his administration froze all COLA raises so I could not keep up with inflation......Food prices at the grocery store have at least tripled.........Gas prices have doubled.........My stock portforlio is about where it was 3 years ago so I have only hold my own there..........There is total Cayous in the middle east with the threat of Nuclear War..........
I've seen the "country on the wrong track" poll often over the years. It's been pretty consistent against the status-quo for years.
.....My stock portforlio is about where it was 3 years ago so I have only hold my own there......
um, you MUST be joking.
My 401k earned back every dime it lost during the recent crash, and has gained a good 15% since that.
If you are or not explain in what way.
cool-soon you will be a republican and against the massive proposed taxes on investment income
I can't think of any substantial way that my life would have been any different if Al Gore or John Kerry had been president from 2001-2008, rather than George Bush. I can't think of any substantial way that my life would be different today if John McCain had been president for the last three years, rather than Barack Obama. Maybe their priorities would have tangentially affected me in some barely-noticeable way, but in the grand scheme of things my life would be more or less the same.
Obama may be President of the United States, but YOU are President of Your Own Life. If you choose to wallow in misery every time a politician is elected whom you dislike, you're in for an unhappy life.
It is also not the qustion he asked.
Well we have to help our OP devise his own talking points and questions as he clearly conflates them and does not realize where his results went wrong.
I am better off. My income is good, the company I work for and my job are stable, I just bought 7 acres in the Virginia mountains....
so jealous of you. I'd love to own some land in Upstate NY.
Perhaps we need to lower expectations.
I have friends who bemoan their financial state because they can't afford a 4th flat screen TV for their $250k home. They also have maxed out credit cards, over-sized vehicles with incredibly high monthly payments, and wear designer clothing. Why? Why is that the standard people are trying to live up to and why would it be bad if we lowered our expectations below that?
I was raised to believe that you leave everything behind when you die, so there's really little point in collecting expensive material crap at the detriment of your other responsibilities or ability to enjoy life. In other words, I don't need a Mercedes when a Ford Focus will do just fine. I don't need a 250k house just 'cause I got pre-approved for that amount. I don't need a flat screen in every room of my house. I don't need to go out and buy a better deck than my neighbor just to say I have it.
Our material expectations are ridiculous.

I don't know what it may cost up there, but if you look around in certain areas of Virginia, you can get beautiful property for less than $10,000 an acre.
Agreed. I've read several studies on the things that actually make people happy, and the things that people THINK will make them happy but don't. To make a long story short, virtually all of these studies conclude that buying a bunch of stuff doesn't make people happy. What actually makes people happy is to spend their discretionary income on experiences - e.g. taking family vacations, visiting a nice new restaurant, going to the movies, trying a new hobby, or (especially) donating it to the less fortunate. Having those experiences is far more important than having new possessions. One of these researches made a great point, that the joy of having new stuff wears off quickly, because we adjust to it. But the thrill of a new experience actually gets BETTER once its over, because we only remember the highlights.
And that's the principle that I try to follow. I don't mind buying possessions when it's something I actually need or something I will actually use regularly...but I don't like wasting a lot of money buying expensive junk. For any material purchase worth more than $100, I try to ask myself if it will actually improve my life in some way. If the answer is no, then I shouldn't be wasting my money on it.
yeah, but if you don't have a house on the property, what do you do with the land?
Come May, we are going to see the regeneration of the occutards. I truly hope all of you that have become so successful will take to the streets and help them understand just what total retards and losers they are and teach them that regardless of the administration, its all about as kickin hard work and...just...well...LOOK at all of you! Sniff...I'm so damn proud!
So your not even a little curious as to why the voters in DP are so out of touch with the real world?
