3 years ago today I was a sophomore in university. Now I'm graduating and going to go to pharmacy school. I'm "better" off than I was 3 years ago, but it's no thanks to Obama (since I know that's the premise of this thread).

Do you realize that this thing called Google exists, and when you just completely make **** up, you're going to get called on your bald-faced lie?

The unemployment rate was 8.3% in February 2009 (the first full month of Obama's presidency). Fail.

However, I made another thread today (after posting here), that might shed some light on my recent "changes" in life and how such changes impact my beliefs about the issue of politics in general and the direction in which humanity is headed. I am no longer supporting the current world system of government, of any kind and from any country - including my own. They are all massively corrupt, evil, failed, failing and they do not serve the needs of The People, whom they are there to serve.

Politicians like to use the phrase: "Take back our government."

Well, I've got a new phrase: "Take back our Planet from the Evil Fascist Totalitarianism of the Minority Elite."

Now suddenly like magic with unemployment over 8% and a 1.5% growth rate it is all about personal responsibility and the president has no real impact on your financial well being. This dramatic turn around in your way of thinking is astounding and you are starting to sound like conservatives with all this personal responsibility talk. Congratulations on your epiphany, lets see if it last through the next rep administration.

Well, I do get the post 9/11 Bill, and I was fortunate enough to be born into wealth, so I do fall under the exception category. Still way better off, because 3 years ago I was a PVT in the Army.

I can't think of any substantial way that my life would have been any different if Al Gore or John Kerry had been president from 2001-2008, rather than George Bush. I can't think of any substantial way that my life would be different today if John McCain had been president for the last three years, rather than Barack Obama. Maybe their priorities would have tangentially affected me in some barely-noticeable way, but in the grand scheme of things my life would be more or less the same.

Obama may be President of the United States, but YOU are President of Your Own Life. If you choose to wallow in misery every time a politician is elected whom you dislike, you're in for an unhappy life.

    Wow!
A majority of those who answered your own poll as being better off today as than we were 3 years ago and we are "out of touch with the real world"?
No "Congratulations to those of us that worked hard, save and invest wisely, and are doing well for themselves" from someone who laims to be "very conservative".
I guess in NP world,"very conservative" means "communist".

Apparently those of us who busted our asses achieving success are "out of touch with the real world" and are to be heaped scorn and hatred in NP world..
I bust my ass for 30 years so that my children can go to good schools, have a better life than I had,and not have to struggles, fight and claw my way like I had to,and I'm out of touch with the real world?
I guess 'taking personall responsibilty" means "blame everyones problemsand all the worlds troubles on Obama" in NP world.
I achieve the American Dream and you put people like me down because I don't share your sociopathic worldview and pathalogical hatred for Obama.
Karl Marx would have been so proud of you.
Glad I live in America and not NP world.

They're not "out of touch with the real world". Like it or not, they just have their individual lives to live and Obama being President does not automatically make every American's life worse. Some prosper and some fail. It would be the same with McCain in office. Those who prospered and those who failed may have been slightly different, but for the most part, very few would see a drastic change in their situation due to who is President.

I have to agree. Despite my lucky circumstances, I worked very hard to get where I am, and will continue to work hard. I get paid to go to school because I earned that benefit by enlisting in the Army, and was forced to finalize my contract do to an injury that has ruined my leg and back for life. I'm financially secure because someone I love died. I'm not out of touch, I'm simply fortunate in a ****ed up kind of way. I also know how to make the best of a ****ty situation. Obama is whatever. Regardless of who gets elected, some aspect of life is going to suck.
