Yes, but only if I was actually defending the USA.

For instance, if China invaded (not that it would ever happen), I would want to join the military. I'd probably be some sort of intelligence analyst or something. Not to sound arrogant, but I don't think the military would put someone with my intellectual abilities in the infantry.

Lots of 'smart' guys were beside me humping ALICE when I was a 'lowly' grunt. Many a college degree walked point. The very low attrition rate in the 'smart' military jobs, called MOSs for short, means they fill up fast and stay filled.

The much higher attrition rate in the infantry means lots of bodies are needed and 'smart' guys are not going to be set aside until an analyst has a car wreck. Fighting in ground combat mode can ALWAYS use smart guys to outwit the badguys. If you had any grunts as friends you'd be amazed how helpful your 'smarts' would be.

You could be your unit's McGiver!

Right. My brother in law and I scored high enough to do any job but chose infantry. We thought it would be a great building block for eventually going special operations which we did. The infantry still need smart Officers and NCOs.

When I look around now I have noticed a much higher percentage of soldiers with degrees in the military.

Well I have a 4 digit IQ and would be needed to run the Manchurian Candidate Program... Mind control attacks and all that.

That's what it's known as. Knowing the Germans, the official title of the project is a long nonsensical jumble of letters.

I did say "until after securing Europe". Hitler expected to have Europe sewn up by the end of 1942. Too bad for him the Russian weather didn't cooperate in '41 - early '42.
They should have left Russia alone, and probably should have looked into getting better allies. Oh well, sucks to be them.

Japan also had a LR bomber project, don't remember it's name either. The goal for them was the west coast using biological or chemical bombs.
The Japanese had all kinds of crazy stuff, wouldn't surprise me one bit.
I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.

I wasn't asked in the original post about invasion. I see now you're trying to reframe the issue. The Japanese took American lives. They were a country, allied with Germany. Germany then declared war on us. You must see that this was us defending ourselves, which was what I was asked.

A successful attack that allowed the invasion of several US territories in the South Pacific.
