The facts of the Iraq war should make this clear.

Tell me where were they hunting for OBL that would be Afghanistan. Why in the middle of a mission or conflict or whatever you'd like to call it do you change direction and bomb a Iraq where al-Qaeda had no serious presence before the attacks and war. Come on now get real. You don't stop chasing the bad guy to do something completely different.

    I agree

we should have squashed SH to make an example out of him (notice how Libya came around after that) and left

but I think that war was a mistake

the Military never stopped searching for OBL

You are correct. I have had a glass of wine to many and may not state things as well as I should.

I doubt you have access to the classified material as to what was being done to find OBL. I don't either but since two of the guys I work with were over there at the time and my nephew just returned from the area after doing 14 months in the SF as a Captain I can tell you that the search for OBL was intense even after the Iraq offensive started

Agreed, don't think anyone ever really forgot about Bin Laden.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

And the military did a great job finding him under Obama's watch. Bush dropped the ball.

That is as stupid as saying that Clinton dropped the ball in finding the Atlanta Bomber who was caught by some state deputy sheriff under Bush

the military's mission didn't change from Bush to Obama

You probably believe Obama killed OBL, shot the pirates off of Somalia etc
