Should prostitution be legal and not just for medical reasons?

Since the topic of legalizing marijuana came up, we should discuss another "illegal" activity...

    Should prostitution be legal?
    Absolutely.

    Legalize prostitution, but criminalize pimping.
Also, we need to legalize recreational drugs and prostitution.

I'm guessing prostitution has been made illegal by silly ol' outdated Christian values, anyways, so why not? Isn't it time America got with the program?

Bah, everyone knows my opinion on this but I believe that laws against all victimless crimes, including drug use of all kinds, are nothing more than Law Enforcement Employment Security Acts. Prohibition never works. History has taught us that. Education works. Tobacco use has gone from 60-70% of the population decades ago down to a small fraction of that. Legalize, regulate, educate.

Of course prostitution should be legal. As with drugs, legalizing prostitution assures cleaner, safer environment for both prostitutes and their clients. Prostitution-driven crime plummets... who needs a pimp when performing a perfectly legal service? Of course, vice officers will be twiddling their thumbs, so that isn't going to happen.

Adults have the absolutely right to decide what to do with their bodies, what to ingest in their bodies, whether it's healthy or not. Educate hell out of the population, use license fees and drug taxes to fund low-cost rehabilitation facilities, and help drug users in the same manner we now help alcoholics and those addicted to tobacco. Provide programs, support and assistance.

If we legalize prostitution, the amount of tax revenue could pay off our national debt within a few years.

    Meaning ?

As is well known, a number of counties in Nevada have legalized and perhaps control prostitution.... This could be true in some other states....we cannot be that "backward".
You, and other conservatives may want religious laws to control things that the state should be, but not I.....I wish for religion, all religions to keep their noses out.
    As to the "medical reasons".......???

Re: Should prostitution be legal and not just for medical reasons?

yes... sex is legal if voluntary... the exchange of money for sex doesn't change the nature of the activity whatsoever.

we must, however, find effective ways to combat slavers ( pimps) and the slave trade.... the activity of prostitution must be a voluntary association.
