The first records of prostitution were transactions in a slave trade.

Would this be from the Sumerians as they were the first to write? Would you say the Courtesans of Kings and or Nobles were all Slaves?

I'm happy to be your secretary but it will cost you a Silver Donation

So great, like your friend barbarian, you make baseless claims then act like a child...i expected more from you...guess I won't do that again...

do you not see how weak your argument is? you ask me to back up my claim but you can't even state my claim...kinda pathetic, huh?

Back on topic: We're not talking about 2 people, we're talking about a market full of millions of people. The increase is various crimes associated with prostitution, does effect me. Also, the prostitute is rarely ever consenting. It's slavery, and that doesn't have to effect me (aka my wife or doughtier or niece being kidnapped for prostitution) in order to oppose it.

You're confusing legal prostitution with illegal prostitution. Please don't denounce the argument championing for legalized and regulated prostituted by bringing up issues related to illegal prostitution. Please demonstrate at what point crime spiked in Storey and Lyon Counties after the legalization of prostitution. Please demonstrate an increase in crime in the areas of the Netherlands where prostitution is legal. Please demonstrate how legal brothels are able to forcibly take people from their homes and turn them into slaves.

I already have the list of your claims on this thread sitting on a MS word doc on my desktop, ready to post. If you don't even know your own argument and need me to look up what you posted for you, then your laziness is going to cost you a silver donation.

So that everything I post in this troll infested thread can be summarily ignored. Right. OP can't even be bothered with supporting his own claims, so therefore having set that standard for his thread, no one else is required to either. Folks who want to discuss the issue in earnest are again invited to take it to the loft.

I have nothing to really back up any of my claims so I will repeat the same ridiculous statement over and over...nice one....:rofl:rofl:rofl

You made the claim, now you back it up. Pretend this is just you and me. :)

Meh, I'm going easy-mode and then leaving the thread:

True debate #4 Jerry -vs- Rivrrat: Prostitution

Edit:
...and for you, here are the few claims OP made and has yest to source that I stored on the word doc:

Legalizing and regulating [prostitution] would clean up many of the things people don't like about it.
[W]e should be staying out of people's bedrooms and let consenting adults do what they want.
She only needs a pimp because it's illegal. If it's legal and regulated, no need for a pimp.

Have a good one :2wave:

We pay doctors to make us feel better, why not prostitutes to make us feel good?
That being said, I would be more prone to brag about my grandkids becoming doctors than becoming whores...

I see that you list your location as Utah & Arizona, but your stating a view that is antithetical with most in the area. How are you doing there?

What is right is not always popular. What is popular is not always right.

Utah is mostly Mormon, but not as high a percentage as many think.....Idaho percentage is a lot less, as is Arizona.
There are a lot of Catholics in AZ, not sure how that works now, but in the old days of Europe, the priests distributed funds from the poor box to the poor in the conventional way, unless they were known whores....the priests paid the whores for services rendered....
(There was a show on History channel a few years back, about the history of prostitution)

Since the topic of legalizing marijuana came up, we should discuss another "illegal" activity...

Should prostitution be legal?

Sure...medical reasons, safety reasons...and of course one of the largest reasons is it's an occupation that has been practiced...well forever and the idea that making it illegal stops it is insane. Just like prohibition it forces it underground and makes the activity more dangrous and lucrative for criminal elements.

Yup. I lived near St Francis Xavier Catholic Church from '55 - '68.

Then why don't we game the system so that they will be more likely to become doctors than becoming whores? Like a better academic and technical educations? And better job placement programs? And having the cost of education fitting the expected salaries?

One reason why I'm for the legalization of prostitution is because if our country is going to let everybody fend for themselves then should have the most avenues of opportunity to do that as possible. So if the only way someone can fend for themselves is by selling their sex, I think we should let them.

It should be regulated and taxed as any other profession. How and what people do in a bedroom should not be anyones or any governments concern. It's just sex people and if the two parties agree then its fine. I think prostitutes should be required to do STD screenings however as part as their contract.

I have the sole right to my body and to my own labor services, nuff said or maybe more. If prostitution were legal, it would be a safer environment for both the provider and client. If prostitution were legal, the state will be able to regulate/tax, making it safer for both the provider and client and helping with the states debt/services (of course I would argue for a strict allocation of such taxes). If prostitution were legal, it would save the taxpayer a lot of money and allow the police to focus on ‘real’ criminals, you know, like the violent ones or the ones who actually steal/harm your property.
I think the underlying issue is that the federal/state government like to think of us as their property/slaves.

I think it should remain a minor ticketing misdemeanor offense as should be hiring one. That is because I think it should stay off the streets and be discrete. Pimping should be a major felony because that is often a form of slavery and extortion.
