Absolutely not. The commercialization and commoditization of sex is inherently degrading and dehumanizing and our society is already rife with the problems that come from viewing our families and communities as disposable conveniences.

Of course prostitution should be legal. As with drugs, legalizing prostitution assures cleaner, safer environment for both prostitutes and their clients. Prostitution-driven crime plummets... who needs a pimp when performing a perfectly legal service? Of course, vice officers will be twiddling their thumbs, so that isn't going to happen.

Adults have the absolutely right to decide what to do with their bodies, what to ingest in their bodies, whether it's healthy or not. Educate hell out of the population, use license fees and drug taxes to fund low-cost rehabilitation facilities, and help drug users in the same manner we now help alcoholics and those addicted to tobacco. Provide programs, support and assistance.

This LEESA is quite the problem.....these to be unemployed could cross the line and do the necessary controlling and tax gathering.....lol
    An ex-viceman as a legal "pimp"....better than thumb twiddling.....lol

    Legalize and not legitimize.

True, and the present laws do nothing to help this.
Instead we should face life as it is, not as we wish it to be.
Or do you really think that prohibition works ?

Life is lonely for some. They find comfort and who are we to criticize or condemn two people making a voluntary exchange of needs? Not I.

And I agree that pimping should be heavilly punished.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

We're pursuing the wrong solution. Replacing one wrong solution with another wrong solution-- a more wrong solution-- is not progress. We should treat it like a medical or social problem with the workers, and reserve the full force of criminal sanction for the customers and the "managers".

While that may be true, criminalization of prostitution is not an adequate method of dealing with such things.

I will be fine with criminalizing prostitution only when we ensure equal pay for women, a guaranteed college or technical education, and a welfare state that provides basic housing, food, and medical needs to all people.

Until then, if we're going to have a capitalist society, then we should allow people to use their talents and skills however they can in order to earn money to take care of themselves and their dependents. And that includes those women who have the talents and skills to sell sex.
Also, we need to legalize recreational drugs and prostitution.
