IMO, todays political correctness is overdone....to a silly extreme.
    I detest this she/he/person ridiculousness.
We need to be much more tolerant and understanding...
    IMO, I am at a "4"...

Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

I don't believe in political correctness. It's a way to control people and bend them to your will.

However, I do believe in not being an ass to people, like coming up to black people and calling them the N-word, etc.

Re: How Politically Correct Are You?

I put 3 since I don't really know what the numbers actually detail. I don't go out of my way to offend people but if somebody is offended I could really care less. I called some dwarfs midgets the other day when they were on TV and somebody told me they were "little people". I would not call a little person a midget but I will call them midgets when they are not around. Like retarded. Kali freaks about it but what does it matter? If a person is slow they are retarded. That is mentally challenged as well. Mentally challenged is the new term to insult people. Then that will change and become politically incorrect and the cycle will continue.

I know a black guy that got really mad when I described him as African American because he wants to be known as black and another who called me racist for calling him black. I think that they need to chill the **** out and stop accusing others of **** due to their issues.

I probably should have put a 1 now that I think about it and the only reason that I am PC at all is so that others will shut the **** up and leave me alone about it.

I used to work with a pretty cool woman from Nigeria, who would get highly offended if black Americans were referred to as African-Americans, because she said they are not Africans, but she was.

Re: How Politically Correct Are You?

Among my group of former schoolmates, there was a guy who had a black grandfather. He does not have a very dark skin, but very curly hair and dark eyes, so before I knew about his granddad, I assumed he had middle eastern ancestors. He himself said "the only two things I inherited from my granddad are my hair, and, well, ask the girls." :P

Within our group, pulling his leg with jokes about his grandfather were common and he enjoyed them, he even invented many of them himself. For example, he would say he is "our white nigger".

Of course I would never use the n-word when talking with other people who have African ancestors. That's a no-brainer, I want to be polite and not call anybody anything he might find offensive for good reasons. And I was hesitant to participate in the friendly joking with that guy too. But when I realized he is not offended, but even encouraged these jokes, I saw no problem with it.

Generally it's a matter of where I am. If I'm representing someone/something like at work or whatever, then I adjust accordingly. If I don't want to get booted out of a place I have to adjust my behavior accordingly. If I'm at home having a drink with friends it's "Here, have another drink - or don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out".

I couldn't agree more! Though I know it as "F*** 'em if they can't take a joke."
