Ok, let me explain it this way. We have no use for that equipment. We have no business fighting wars. We have become to weak to fight to win. We should burn it all and bring our troops home.

    but its still government waste.

lets say by example out equipment there is worth 700 billion most of which aquired over decades.

we leave afghanistan and burn it,then we get drawn into war a few years later, you basically are advocation taking all weve gained over the years and thowing it away.

this isnt vietnam where soldiers are handed a steel pot an etool a rifle some ammo and a few grenades then let loose into the jungle.

one truck used in that war lets say a humvee is 150-190k for an uparmored.some of our trucks cost 1.5 mil a piece.alot of our generators cost 20-40k a piece.

they arent always just civilian equivilant, alot of those have high dollar emp shielding to survive a nuclear blast.

my old unit alone if it had to leave its gear in afghanistan would have to wait a decade to get enough funds to replace it just to do training excersises properly.cant run an ftx without a generator, cant train soldiers to drive a humvee without a humvee.so your entre notion is based on no threats will happen but more on that no president will be a douche and start wars, looking at obamas current record i dont think thats gonna happen, republicans are rooting for the same war team.

I am old soldier, I understand that it takes time to acquire the equipment required to fullfill TOE. I am just frustrated with our politicians and there lack of understanding when it comes to warfare and what it takes to accomplish the mission.

all of us can agree the war is a waste at this point, but if you look at the costs of what we have,we are still paying that equipment and still will be for decades, throwing it out is like buying a new truck and giving it away for free after only 2 payments.

we will get out and we are already trying, its just not gonna be quick like people want, more like the area of two years.

Its really a tough call. I hate to cut and run but I feel that the people of Afghnistan don't want us there......Some of the friendlies are even shooting our guys in the back.........I Russian tried and they could not get the job done either.............The main thing is we got OBL. This is nothing like Viet Nam.......

    I pity the women though........

I agree with you. It is precisely because I dont trust the politicians that I want to end the war.

I absolutely think that we should leave afghanistan. There is nothing we did over there that could be misconstrued as protecting America. The majority of the people are too lazy to help themselves, and want to suckle on the power tit that is the US.

Now, as far as the equipment goes, it just needs to follow a simple equation:
Let x be the cost of burning the equipment and buying new stuff, and y be the cost of bringing the equipment home.
If x << y, I say burn it, cut the loss. If x > y, then keep it. Now, we naturally won't be needing as much equipment if we weren't being the world police, but that equipment can still be used for legitimate national defense.

Won't that equipment be useful when the USA invades Syria and then Iran?
