Everyone needs to be rational and logical and responsible. Those who are not, and who get in trouble for such, really don't deserve the same kind of respect that those who do ought to get. Actions have consequences. People need to deal with the consequences of their actions.

But yes, if you act responsibly and you still get screwed, I'll always have your back.

Yeah but you idea of responsible could have nothing to do with freedoms rights and the constitution.
    "responsible" is very subjective.

Not saying you think this way at all but IM sure there are people that think its irresponsible for a white person to marry a black person, or its irresponsible to let women vote, or let muslims on an airplane. Etc etc

But stopping any 3 of those things would definitely infringe on rights and freedoms.

Again I'm not saying you think any of these are true I'm just pointing out how using responsibility (totally subjective) as a deciding factor could also mean a person does NOT care about your fellow american.

Yes, I care for my fellow Americans. I want their rights protected and respected, I want to see those who have fallen on hard times given the welfare they need to get bye, I want to see those who use welfare as a lifestyle of fraud to be prosecuted, I want our soldiers to get the best medical and psychological help possible when they return from fighting wars I don't believe they should have been forced to fight.

I care for those who are without jobs, and I care when jobs they would be happy to do are given to those who have no right to even be in this country. I want religious freedom protected for all of our citizens of all faiths, and of no faith, not just freedom to worship the majority religion while other religions are villified. I care about people who, through no fault of their own, have lost their homes and everything they own to the legalized fraud of deregulated banks, brokers and others, while government "bailouts" are distributed as bonuses to management rather than funneled to the victims of their fraud.

I don't know if this is what you had in mind in the OP, but yes, I do care about my fellow Americans, whether I agree with their politics or social views, because I still believe in a country where individual rights are protected, and ideology is not enforced on an unwilling populace by the rule of law.
Not exactly but it definitely applies and your closing point should have been in my OP.
I care about me fellow amercian no matter if they are a democrat, republican, libertarian, gay, straight, black, brown, white, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, male, female etc etc etc etc

What they are on those levels doesnt matter to me because what they actually are, are AMERICANS.

Do I care about my fellow Americans? Sure. Do I want them to be able to make their own decisions? yes, absolutely. Should they have to live with the results of those decisions? yes again. Do I want to be affected negatively by someone else's bad decisions? No, I make enough of those on my own.

If I could, I'd make the statements in the Declaration of Independence apply not just to Americans, but to all mankind: All men (all mankind of both genders and all races/ethnicities/cultures) are created equal, endowed by our creator with inalienable rights.

And the purpose of government is to secure those rights from anyone who would limit them.

And any government action that does not serve to secure those rights is a wrong action.

And everyone has the right to make their own decisions, just as long as they don't curtail the liberties of anyone else.

But the world has a long way to go before all men live in such an environment.

ugh, I wonder what YOU mean by this bolded sentence? again VERY subjective. Just like what I said in post 11.

You may FEEL you are negatively affected by minorities living in your neighborhood, a women being allowed to vote, a person being openly gay, interracial marriages, a politician of a different party being in office, owning a store and not being allowed to discriminate.

Again not saying you think this way just point out how open your sentences is. Now you kind of clean it up with the 2 underline sentences but its still open.

That is pretty open, isn't it?
No, minorities living in my neighborhood is not an infringement on my liberty. In fact, if all of the minorities moved out of my town, it would be a ghost town.

Some *** breaking into my house and trying to steal my stuff is an infringement, so is some idiot who wants to get drunk and then share the road with me. People who like power over others tend to infringe the liberty of the rest of us. A politician who wants to use the power of government to impose his morality on the rest of us is an infringement. I'm sure that there are a lot more examples.

But women being allowed to vote, a person being openly gay, interracial marriages, a politician of a different party being in office, owning a store and not being allowed to discriminate are not infringements on my liberty.

We are ONE country. We are ONE people.

Being concerned about our fellow citizens is the PATRIOTIC thing to do.

    Definitely agree!
Ill never understand the people that insist that I have to clearly find out the trespassers "intentions" before protecting myself or family. BULL****!

Don't want me to wonder about your intentions, unless you were invited keep your ass on the outside of my house.

OK. So let's acknowledge that the Occupy Wall Street groups seem to represent an underrepresented citizenry lobbying for the greater good. Green groups and environmentalists are trying to prevent damage to the same underrepresented citizens. And Big Corporate is just the opposite. Pretty simple. Good guys and bad guys.
