Why would you take offense to it? That makes zero sense.

You guys can keep that ****.

I feel a profound sense of loss for you. I can't believe you are actually trying to pretend you don't see the situation. Toeing that party line must be pretty heavy on the arms, X.

Would we be having this debate if the other side was chanting the name of another country?

So they were chanting USA because.....it was the olympics and the USA was playing Mexico? Wouldn't LeBron be there if that was the case?

I simply do not understand what they possibly could have been getting at -- except that the opposing team were of Mexican descent. Why are you cheering your teams victory by chanting USA? Unless you are a complete moron. It's the most inappropriate cheer I could think of short of singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" or clapping and saying "Yay, fooball!"

Agreed. It would make about as much sense for me to, for some reason, take offense at a chant of USA in the USA.

    Re: Racism against Hispanics?

Just to clarify, were they chanting "I Hate Spics" or were they chanting "USA"?

The USA was not playing in that game. I guess I'll ask you this question as well:

Have you been to a sporting event before? LOL

Are you saying there was no ulterior motive for chanting USA, X? Are you saying if it was them vs a team of white players they would have still chanted USA?

Right -- just like the wing-nut commentators who insist on referring to the President as Barack Hussein Obama are just using his full name.

When's the last time you saw a group of teenage sport boosters break into a chant like that when it was one primarily white American team defeating another primarily white American team?
I'm already gearing up for Finger Vote 2014.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

That's one of the few things that would have possibly been more inappropriate.

White people are so persecuted. I can't understand how we made it so far.
